Barca Transfers and Rumors

Well, if Griezmann's buyout clause has not changed it would "only" require a change of opinion from Griezmann. As things stand now he is the only player that is comparable to a prime Suárez on the market although he is a different player. For €100 million he is an absolute steal in today's market and he would have at least 3-4 very good years on the highest level left.

I don't otherwise see any truly exciting young attackers out there. There is Maxi Gómez (who I talked about a few days ago in his thread), there is Werner, Richarlison, Pépé and a few others on top of my head.

Icardi, while very good, is a tier below Griezmann in my eyes. A better goalscorer and header of the ball but worse in every other aspect compared to Griezmann who is scoring his share of goals in a pathetically defensive setup at Patético and who is very good with his head too compared to his size.

I would sell Coutinho (a failure of a transfer if you ask me) and use the funds to get Eriksen instead this summer when he will likely have only 1 year left on his contract. Suárez has only 1.5 season left at the club. Anything else would surprise me greatly.

Griezmann's clause has changed. It's 200 mil now. He's not an option for us anymore. That ship has sailed.

Regarding Coutinho, if we're selling him, we need to get the money back. Or at least the most of it. Who's paying 120+ mil for Coutinho - I do not know.

Well, I stopped following the transfer market on a daily/weekly basis ages ago so that's how little I know about the contract situation of individual players outside of the club. Makes sense for the buyout clause to have been raised. Shame, as he was IMO the best option to succeed Suárez short-term and long-term without doing "experiments". For a very reasonable transfer fee too. Alas.

Well, there was a rumor today of Man Utd being interested. Anyway I am sure that the board will be able to sell him for at least €100 million in today's market.

To review our CB situation in short:

Pique (31), Umtiti (25), Lenglet (23), Murillo (26) on loan, Todibo (19) (?), Vermaelen (33) last season under contract.

In the summer, we might need another CB. Probably a right-footed one.
Some of the options:
- De Ligt
- Upamencano
- Pavard
- Koulibaly
- Škrinar
- possibly some La Liga defender, Nunez, Maripan (for example)

Who have I missed?

The market for RBs and Strikers must be the worst I have seen in a long time. Some talents, but no convincing option unless you want to sell your kidney for an established player like Kane.

The market is shit in general, ton of wealthy teams who are desperate for elite talent and will pay mammoth fees for every young player showing flashes of it.
Positions that 2 outfield player can coexist are easier (CB,CM,wingers) but strikers fullbacks and to less extent DM are a bit more difficult. In 2 years when Alba starts to decline we will likely be singing same song on LB.
It doesn't help the re-emergence of old fashioned 9 in the market. Icardi/Kane/Gomez etc

Agree about this. The market for LB is good now but we don’t know in 2 years. F.Mendy is world class and will fit us good. But he don’t want to be a backup and it’s too soon to replace Alba.

The market for RBs is really bad though. I can’t think of a single option. I don’t even rate Kimmich that much. Cancelo the only world class RB right now IMO

IMO with the striker market right now, I wouldn’t buy any of those available. Maybe Jovic.

I don’t think a striker is a must. Messi can play as a 9 if the rest of team score and assist a lot. That way we could get a winger who score a lot like Saleh or Sterling. Now these two aren’t available but by looking at wingers who score we get more options in the market.

It also require Dembele to score 20-30 a season which I think he can.
Arthur needs to make more assists.

Agreed. Was looking down Marca's list of strikers and the one I prefer is Jovic or maybe Werner.

If Suarez has a sudden decline then Coutinho-Messi-Dembele seems adequate enough until the right striker matures.

Munir will apparently join Sevilla this month and the club is looking to bring another "9" on loan. I think we'll try to negotiate a buy option as well like we did with Murillo just in case.

I have absolutely no idea who we're considering though.

Anybody who watch French ligue and can describe Youcef Atal? Looks fantastic and Cancelo-esque going forward, also rated quite high on Whoscored(7.5!!)

Possible option on the Rb position?

If we manage to offload Munir then I think we should really get Aspas on loan or sign him if it is below 25m.

Apparently Bayern have offered Hudson Odoi the No 10 shirt and Chelsea 35m for the 18 year old.

I watched the entire game the other day and had never seen him or heard of him before then but the kid is amazing, potentially world class.

I hope Chelsea convinces him to stay.
