Barca Transfers and Rumors

Strangely, there really aren’t a lot of top class 9s out there atm that fit our profile.

Out of those 6, maybe Sanabria since he came up for La Masia. Llorente wouldn’t be a horrible bench option but there isn’t a lot of longevity in a signing like that. Honestly I think our best move rather than a loan deal that will most likely fall flat, let’s test Mujica & Ruiz.

I know Mujica has been performing better this season which is why he deserves a look but I fancy Abel Ruiz. He’s got Luis’s physical attributes and his mental side (positioning, link-up etc.) aren’t bad either and he could learn a lot from Luis while he is this young. Considering whomever this 9 is will maybe get 5-10 appearances max this season, makes more sense for us to test our youth players and see if they are ready rather than getting a fairly sub-par 9 due to a lack of good options. If we sign someone, it should be a player that can truly compete with Luis and none of the options listed do so.

So I’d rather us promote Ruiz and/or Mujica and then splash the cash in the summer for someone world class (Neymar tho he isn’t a classic 9, Fekir, Icardi tho I doubt Messi would be cool with that, Bobby F, Depay etc.).

I know Ajax are the flavor of the year in terms of clubs to raid and I know he just signed an extension recently but does anyone else see Casper Dolberg as a viable option in a year or two? He’s got a lot of potential and demonstrates a lot of what we are looking for.

Have you guys noticed how nobody ever goes after City players? Yeah, I know they have money and that but several clubs including us have been after PSG players. And City never really goes for the star players at the big club. An agreement made maybe?

I still can't understand how they got B.Silva for just 50m. Was only 22 and the absolute star player at that Monaco team, I remember a lot of teams were interested but City sealed the deal fast.

City don't need to buy galacticos because they have a system and the best manager in the world who turns rough gems into diamonds

City are really quick at doing their business except when it's come to English players as English clubs obviously prefer to sell outside and tend to haggle a lot with the price.

But everyone else they've signed been pretty much early. That's what happens when you got a clear plan and sporting structure. Pep might have his flaws, but not knowing what he want isn't one of them.

Meanwhile Barca are just clueless. Their second option after Verratti was Coutinho. Two completely different style of players.

Some sort of joke that I missed? Team which already had likes of Agüero, Silva, Fernandinho spent over 600 million Euros in the last 3 transfer windows and is described as if they were getting by on a budget with youth development. lol

They paid 70 million for Mahrez to sit on the bench, 30 million for Danilo who was widely known as the #1 joke in La Liga, 40 million for Bravo + Nolito who were complete busts and 60 million for Mendy (record signing for a defender) who got injured so they threw another 70 million at Laporte in the winter window. They were also about to replace Agüero with washed up Sanchez (Pep talking about Sanchez being best in the middle while trying to lure him) because Agüero is not ball-playing enough for Pep but luckily for City Sanchez chose the money and went into semi-retirement. So the world was spared Ibra-Eto'o 2.0.

Barca cannot operate like that. Buy a defender for 60 million in the summer, gets injured, buy another one for 70 million in the winter. Total joke.

All our signings are in the 20 - 50 million range. 70 million-ish with high wages and we are already out of the race (De Jong). Coutinho and Dembélé are obvious exceptions with the Neymar money.

I have no idea what you're even talking about. where did anyone say City are getting by on a budget with youth development?

Sane was bought for a resonable price just before he blew up, he had the talent but Pep took him to the next level. same goes for Sterling. can you argue against that?

if we had a system and a decent manager, we could of got 3-4 players that could improve our depth and first team (Sane cost £40mil, Sterling cost £50mil etc lets round it off at £100mil which still leaves £180mil! to spend) instead we buy 2 players for 280mil in Coutinho and Dembele and 1 of them is riding the bench

You said that.

"City don't need to buy Galacticos because they have a system."

If they don't need expensive players ("Galacticos") and the system is what gets the results, why spend over 600 million Euros on players? Put 100 million worth players in that system and see what happens. Whether it's the system or the money spent that makes the difference.

Let me think what makes the difference during a league campaign. When 60 million defender gets injured put 70 million Laporte on. Or when VVD gets injured put Lovren on. Tough one.

Don't even know what Pep coaching Sterling has to do with City's spending but okay, I'll bite, it's easy to argue against anyway.

Sterling was already an England international at the age of 18 and had a full world class season in the Prem where he started 29 games alongside Suarez in the "Gerard slip" season. He won the Golden Boy Award as the most impressive youngster in Europe. That's not a "rough gem". lol Unknown Arthur from Brazil is a rough gem. Can you argue against that?

What does "decent manager" have to do with buying Dembélé and Coutinho? Valverde clearly didn't buy either, both were board buys that were forced on him after the Neymar fiasco. Valverde's preseason started with Neymar. You think he scouted Coutinho and Dembélé while at Bilbao or what?

Stuani is coming.

If he want to come and Girona are willing to sell him. He has a good thing going in Girona where he's starting and doing very well. I don't see him joining mid-season to be benched by Valverde unless Suarez is injured.

I would like to have Stuani as backup, but I'm not sure if Stuani wants to leave Girona as he seems happy playing regularly there and scoring lots of goals. Unless he really wants to win trophies, I think he could be persuaded. I agree with Don that he won't be likely to join Barca mid-season.

Stuani's 32, has never won a trophy in his whole career. If Barca comes knocking, he'll want to come.

I like Stuani for a season or 2. knows la liga well, cheap, decent player and we can rest Suarez for the CL. win-win
