xXKonan, sorry, what does this following MD article say? I am confused. Are we buying Emerson and then loan it to Betis? Or is Betis getting him from Atletico Mineiro?

Betis and us are joint buying Emerson from Atletico Mineiro. He will join Betis and we own a percentage of his rights so if Betis wants to sell we can buy him or get the percentage of the sell fee from them.

It's a co-ownership deal. Betis will pay 6 million euros and we will pay 6 million euros for him.

Thank you. Sounds very weird, never heard of such an arrangement before. So if he turns out to be good, we have the first denial, however Betis might charge us a lot of money for him?

One of De Jong's demands was getting regular playing time and it appears Barça reacted by putting three midfielders for sale. Although the identity of those players wasn't revealed by his source, Quim claims it'll be Ivan Rakitic, Denis Suarez and Rafinha who leave the club.

It appears there's an ongoing debate over Rakitic's future. Ernesto Valverde is a huge fan of the player the Rakitic himself loves the club. However in the sporting department and boardroom they feel it's time to cash in on the tireless midfielder whilst he still has a few good years left at the highest level.

Denis and Rafinha were done anyway, we simply don't need them even if it wasn't for De Jong.

Now Rakitic would be a big one, i hope the reports we try to sell are true. Good guy, good player but it's the last chance to cash in on him and i don't want to see him next to Busquets anymore. Time to prepare for the future.

Best case would be Ernie gets a new job at a somewhat wealthy club this summer and blows their whole budget on Rakitic

Exactly. We need fresh blood and new legs to midfield. If we don't sell Rakitic Now, we never will.

I dont see how people can claim we can "cash in" on Rakitic. 50-100m for that guy at 31 seems like pure fantasy. He's probably not going to go for more than 20m at most.

30-40M isn't too unrealistic imo and that wouldn't be bad. But of course it depends on what clubs are in for him, if he wants to leave etc if we only get loan or 10M offers selling would be pointless but IF we can get a decent amount we should sell imo.

We would take a risk because we don't know how De Jong will work out but i still think it would be the right decision. We will most likely already keep Suarez, Busquets, Pique, Alba until retirement so might as well don't keep everyone till 35.

IMHO our TOP priority should be to renew Alba and sign a new LB. I honestly don't know which player ahould we sign as Alba's backup but that shouldn't be so hard to find since we are not looking for a regular starter. Miranda certainly doesn't have attributes to be a long term solution for Barca.
