Barca Transfers and Rumors

Agree with Jombi, before PSG was the only club I could see 40-50m on Rakitic but I’m sure they won’t help us get rid of him.

Can’t see which club gonna spend 40m on Rakitic.

Did PSG really offer 90 last summer or just rumors? Should have accepted if true IMO

United. They could use great midfielder.

SKY GERMANY: Rabbi Matondo (Manchester City / 18) set to sign for Schalke 04 for £10m.

Brahim Diaz for 15M

We get nothing from Sandro, 1M Munir, Samper 0, Onana 0.

Adama and Deulofeu both sold with good profit, each player is its own case. Samper was destroyed by injuries, Munir was already at the end of contract and wasn't young anymore (with the examples mentioned, teams paid for potential)
Sandro had 1 year left (team option) that we decided to decline out of respect to the player, we weren't getting anything from him and there was no reason to pick up such option
Such gestures is good when we are trying to keep our talents -and attract some more- every year while other big clubs offering big money

29 year old Matic went for 46M despite being just a regular Chelsea player.

Rakitic on the other hand is a UCL winner, scored a goal in final, is a WC finalist & is ever present for Barca when it comes to fitness.

50-60M for me is a fair price for a guy of his calibre, who will just turn 31. He could play for 3-5 years easily considering the way and the position he plays. From marketing standpoint he and Modric are levels above in Croatia when it comes to popularity.

There is a huge difference between 29 and 31. At 31, all players have to take 6 months at a time to assess if their level has fallen off the cliff. Clubs understand this and are not willing to take much risks for players at that age. It doesnt really matter whether Rakitic has scored in a final in the past or not. Rakitic playing at the highest level for 3-5 more years easily? What share of the world's top players are 36 years old? Or 35? Or 34?

Well we tend to keep players until we are sure they are absolutely useless and low on contract. Still made quite good money with Deulofeu and Adama.

Selling good talents shouldn't be a priority anyway, a player with potential is usually better than taking these quick bucks even if most talents don't work out.

The biggest weakness is/was selling proven first team players and we improved a lot there with the sales of Mina, Paulinho, Digne and even Paco wasn't that bad of a deal. Hopefully Gomes will also recover most of the money we invested.

Bartomeu showed Frenkie De Jong Neymar's Whatsapp messages asking to come back to Barça in order to convince the Dutchman to choose the club over PSG. [as.com]

Really good game by Youcef Atal yesterday. I think the club should monitor him and see if he can keep this level up for the rest of the season.

Dude plays like Cancelo's twin brother. Still just 22.

Agreed, but this is the era of inflation.

I know Rakitic isn't worth that much, but if we pay higher than actual prices for players, we should stop selling for peanuts when you have a WC player like Rakitic to sell.

And about 35-36, if he can play at WC level for at least 3 years and slows down in next 2 years, I would consider it worthy for a 50M player.

I agree with this, but I think the chances of that scenario actually happening is slim to none so the price will probably reflect that.

De Ligt, Mendy and Jovic would be a fantastic summer.

If we cant get De Ligt we should look at Konaté and Milatao (if he hasn’t signed for RM yet)

Don't know about Todibo and Emerson signings but I guess both are low risk and possible high rewards. If we are to go that route the club should consider a partnership with some La Liga club to send those players to and gain experience.
