I was thinking of a 3 man defense. Umtiti-Pique-Bonucci. Plus, Masche is 33 and exactly on the same contract (even more, maybe) and he'll be sold in Italy eventually.

Can you expand on what Vidal is better at than Semedo? defending, atacking, pace, marking, build up play etc.

We just need a RB. Doesn't matter if its Semedo/Sidibe. Because defending is not everything and last season defending was not that bad. Our focus should be the midfield. Last season barca lacked a spark from the midfield. Nothing was came out from the midfield when it was needed especially in the big matches. MSN had to do all the work. Madrid advantage last season was their brilliant midfield and a scoring one too.

If we won't be able to land a brilliant CM then not expecting to win CL/league unless MSN or Valverde pulls a magic from the hat.

Semedo is an improvement in terms of profile. Technical, young, capable of linking up with other superb players near him. Of course, he can fail as well, but at least we're after the right type of players.
