Barça, one step ahead

Although in Spain it seems that the main option for him right now is Barcelona, for a matter of the situation: the culé team is going to start a new stage next season, after completing this season the departure of the last remaining from the glorious years (Piqué, Busquets and Alba). If Veiga goes to Barcelona, his options to start as a starter are great, but he is waiting to see if Barça manages to make room for him in the economic control imposed by LaLiga.

AS say we are ahead of Madrid for the 40m Gabriel Veiga. I'm not seeing how we can effectively setup with if Veiga were signed and a DMC wasn't.

Pedri-FdJ double pivot with Gavi and Veiga in front doesn't install me with confidence. Not with the lack of control that Veiga and Gavi have shown in their game.

He's an alternative to Bernardo Silva who is alternative to Messi.

In the end we won't get any of them and Laporta will do a favor to his amigo Mendes and sign Ruben Neves to replace Kessie as a 4th midfielder.

Signing Veiga would only make sense if Celta gets relegated (but pretty sure they'll beat our asses on Sunday so that won't happen) and they would have to sell for well below 40m (not sure if he has a relegation release clause). Otherwise just a stupid BS rumour.

Xavi: “I told the president that Messi return makes sense. No doubts at all, he is perfect for our system and idea. I’ve the tactical plan in mind with Leo”, told Sport. “It’s up to Leo. I think he has to decide, it’s up to him… I’m speaking with Leo, yes”,

Quite hilarious considering he hasn't even had any sort of tactical plan without Messi the past 2 seasons.

Maybe his genius plan is to have Messi walk around for 90 minutes vs top European sides and have the absolutely exhausted midfield, who have been covering him all season at this point, continue to cover him and be overrun.

There is no other top European club run like ours where signings are so political and nonsensical. Signing players because they are Catalan or Spanish, signing players from preferred "friendly" agents or scrubs from Brazil for no reason.

I love Messi, and I think he's the best player to ever live and was unplayable in his prime, but he will make our starting 11 worse now, not better. Dembele and Raphinha might not be as useful going forward as Messi on a good day, but they help defensively and press....and over the course of an entire season, especially in Europe, I value that more than Messi's output at his current age.
If we are going to complain every time Messi doesn't press then bringing Messi here will be a waste of time. He's 36, he never pressed much in his prime, he's not going to now.

His lack of pressing is not the issue. The issue is whether he can more than compensate for that when he is on the ball. You disagree, but if Lionel Scaloni disagreed they would have been punted in the group stage in humiliation rather than returning to Argentina as eternal heroes.

The difference on the ball between Messi and the two players you mentioned, Raph and Dembouz, is absolutely astronomical.

This season has been as awful a season as I can remember from an entertainment spectator perspective. Watching our attackers has been recommended to the CIA as a new method of interrogation. I can't watch the same shit next season.

There is nothing to protect, nothing concrete for Messi to come in and fuck up. We are the champions of a pub league, let's face it, Tebas made sure of that.

I'm not fully for Messi coming back only because we are playing in the atmosphereless Montjuic. But the idea that Messi's lack of pressing is a deal breaker because it's going to destroy something beautiful we have created ( we haven't ) , is something I can't sign up for.

Good point. He would probably create more cumulative danger in attack than both Demb and Raph combined. These guys, if they were indjuns from old cowboy movies, would be called "Moves A Lot, Gets Nowhere"

We need more new posters like you.

🚨🎖| JUST IN: Barcelona are forcing Ansu Fati OUT and he is not in the club's plans. His sale would help a lot financially. Xavi is OPEN to his exit. [@MatteMoretto] #fcblive

It would be a good sign for the continuation of the type of project that Newcastle are trying to build.

Reckon Celta will get a few offers on that BO clause if it's 30 and not 40 (Spanish press don't seem to have a clue what it actually is).

Good for us that he is now with Pino Zahavi, not that I see where he really fits as said before.

Interestingly the bookies have us as favourites to sign 3 players before the end of the transfer window.

Neves they have as pretty much one foot in the door at 2/5

Messi is next at 4/6

And there's a 50 50 chance they give us of landing Firmino. 4 times as likely as Madrid getting him who are next favourite.

Don't believe a word that periquito Balague says.

City apparently negotiating with Chelsea for Kovavic. Might be a sign Gundogan is leaving.
