Busi last season chased the ball a lot to win it early and FDJ covered him.

Often FDJ was the deepest midfielder of the two.

FDJ is intelligent and would play in the spaces that would allow Busi/Balde and even Gavi to get more freedom.

Pedri and FDJ when on occassion have played as a pair have dominated the games.. Gundo should slide in and allow for same. But will take some time to settle.

They shouldnt set up with a sitting DM. Dont have players for it really.

In that scenario (and I agree with you) then we should put the 8m on Fabricio Diaz. Not an out and out DMC but his main defensive attribute is anticipation.

Absolute nonsense.

Not particularly strong... Strongest of any Barca starting mid last season.
Not particularly press resistant... ridiculous claim.. one of best in world at that.
Not particularly much of a workhorse... most athletic and hardest working mid Barca have with ability to get about pitch.
Not particularly great positionally at DM... agreed thats not his natural position but reads game well and would need to improve on it. No worse than Busquets was though really and he used to protect him.
Not particularly good at tackling... nonsense.. very good reader of game and winning ball back.
Not particularly brave, (pulls out of a lot of 50/... doesnt.

You sound the type that thinks Gavi is better as runs about like a lunatic.
In terms of him being press resistance, I've lost count of the number of times he has lost the ball in his own third, trying to shield it leading to a great counter for the opposition. Ends up looking at ref pleadingly after like he has been fouled as well. Very very similar to the way someone in that position used to do.:busquets:

So, to clarify, you think Frenkie de Jong is strong, brave and a great tackler of the ball. :rofl1:We are going to have to absolutely agree to disagree on that one chief. :stv172:

If we go into next season with

Kounde--Araujo--christensen

--------de jong--gundogan

------pedri--------Gavi-------balde

--------dembele/raphinha
-----------------------lewa.

And we manage to register all our players including roque, that's a solid XI, gundogan makes everything look so much better and puts my mind at ease, with that double pivot.

Issue will be our depth in midfield, kessie would have to kick on from next season, which is very likely, as well as Fati.

I have no hope for Torres.

Martinez, kessie, Fati, roque, Roberto, raphinha and Alonso will make up the core of our team, not terrible but we need a bit more quality.

Which we should get by the window is over.

We would be very well set up if we could just spend in total what United or Arsenal did on a single, average player like Havertz or Mount.

The club has been doing a great job so far. Just need to get the exits going.

Any thoughts ?

BREAKING: FC Barcelona & Paris Saint-Germain have reached an agreement to sign Neymar, he will be a blaugrana if PSG pay the majority of his salary, reports @khaledwaleed99 — pending further confirmation.

I remember we used to play our great former CB Rafael Marquez as DM sometimes. Xavi played in that team too.

Not a fan of it though. Different times as well.

Why would PSG essentially gift a club they hate Neymar whilst they paid for it?

Sounds like Khaled Waleed been on the weed

Not a fan of too much experimenting and ambiguity.

This is like when we bought likes of Coutinho and Griezmann and tried to make up an XI. Only this time there are a lot of question marks on what formation we'll use, who'll play and where they'll play. There are so many options, without any of them being too convincing and with a lot of hope that shoehorned players will fit. Think it's essential that we sign a defensive DM. Hoping for some movement regarding sales soon.

Seems like everyone is shitting on Gerard Romero these days and more often than not he's been wrong this summer and rarely first on big transfer news too.

Apart from when his goons who camp out at various locations have managed to take a photo of Alemany or someone at an airport.

Jordi Cruyff gave this guy a career again.

I think the most bizarre one was him reporting Newcastle offering Bruno Guimaraes+25 Million for Raphina.

Made me go like dude what the fuck at least try and make it believable.

So we are signing Fresenda, Arda Guller and Victor Roque, which we will NOT be able to register as we won't have any salary space.
Same for Romeu, who we shouldn't sign as he is pure trash.

None of the players targeted for exits (Ansu, Ferran, Kessie) will agree to leave, as the dumb board hasn't realized that Barca is a top destination for any footballer, and once they sign they don't care about what the clubs thoughts and plans are

The summer will move on with many rumours but the reality come end of August will be that the team will be literally the same as last season w/o the Amigos that left
