Kimmich is not, nor has he ever been, a world class player. He is far too slow and weak as a full back to be world class. Vini exposed that all too clearly.

And his stint as a CDM seems to be more like a Pep vanity project. He's a jack of all trades, master of none type. Has the odd great game, but is largely underwhelming.

The German Sergi Roberto.

Kimmich been hitting double-digit assists 7 seasons in a row. In the correct setup he can be a great asset.

Not saying we should sign him though. Maybe on a free next season, but he seems to be declining early.

He's levels above Sergi Roberto, always has been. Frequently near the top of passing and chance creation including the Champions League which is why getting and playing him as a CDM is non-sensical.

But the reality is Barcelona are not signing Bayern Munich starters under current FFP constraints.

How can any of you still rate Kimmich this high after what Vini did to him? You want a defensive midfielder who can't defend? That Vini stuff was embarrassing, it was like a kid playing against a pro. I can promise you Roberto would have done much better against Vini, because Kimmich got passed EVERY time ffs...

Technically not every time, Kimmich took the ball off him at least once from what I remember but Vini's arrogance probably to blame.

The Sergi Roberto comparison is obviously a slight exaggeration on my part to emphasize my point.

But Kimmich's passing, chance creation and assist stats are massively inflated by the fact he takes all the set pieces. You are not going to see him come here and thread through balls to strikers through the eye of a needle.

He creates through set pieces and crosses. Both of which are not predominate goal scoring techniques of Barca.

He looks average now, he will look worse in a Barca shirt. And that's not counting the decline attributed to him aging either.

An awful signing, even for 'free'.

The smart play would be to make an attempt to sign Kimmich to show him a year in front of our interest, and then sign him on a free next year.

He is on high salary already.

I would rather go with Liverpool model.

Sign top players from lower clubs like Porto, Southampton, Roma and bring them up.

Buying old stars on high wages is almost disaster.

You will not fail big, you will not lose to much money and you could hit jackpot.

We are with RM biggest brand in the world.

We are first picking always.

We could get Luis Diaz and we went for Ferret. Camavinga was free, Alvarez was 20mil. We would be sorted for years with them.

All of this players would be starters here.

We have problem with recognizing talents and acting quickly.

Liverpools board with our brand would made us best in the world.
