I think it depends on whether Flick approves. Diaz wants to come, Deco wants him and reckon Pool wouldn't mind selling him.

If he does, then let him cook I guess. Won't bitch about his signings, he can make a shit footballer have unbelievable season. He'll probably get the most out of Diaz but even if that happens we'll need to spend big on a LW again soon when Diaz is finished (if he already isn't).

Yeah hopefully Fabrizio doesn't post it as well lol that would suck

I hope he's just waffling after Ornstein said that we appreciate Luis Diaz and what he can provide.
If Deco even thinks about spending 70m for him he should be sent back to Porto with a one-way ticket.

Would be a Bartomeu-era type of signing.

Please save us, Deco. We love you. 🥹

Barcelona wants to try for Luis Diaz this summer. He’s the winger that Deco likes the most and is planning the summer with Diaz as the ‘big goal’. The player really wants to come. Possible operation could be around €70M-€75M. @tjuanmarti

Toni Juanmarti isn't reliable in transfers, he reports everything. The 70M is his own suggestion too, not what we think about. For all what we know we could be ready to splash such amount or want him on a loan with option to buy.

Also, Barca "appreciate" a lot of players. Ornstein sources are from Liverpool side and not us.

Diaz isn't that bad btw, but he is underwhelming option considering the expectations we have for the team.

Ok, some in here should cut the load of BS

- a 'Bartomeu-esque' signing would be Leao for 100+m, which the fat bozo is very much in favor...
A flashy to they eye player, who is as consistent as 20yr old Dembele was if not less, and lazier in defending than old Messi and Suarez

- a Bartmoeu-esque signing is NOT a player like Diaz, who works his ass for his team like a 2nd Raphina in pressing and intensity, and is pure class in dribbling and 1v1 situations. We currently have only Lamine who can do that, we desperately lack a profile like his

Now, I understand the price sound too much, and i agree with that.
But given that 1) we want to buy from the top shelf, 2) he has 2.5 more years of contract, 3) Pool not in a need to sell, we should play at least 70m for him. Think that we paid 55m for Olmo and 60m for Raphina from 2nd tier teams.

The good news is that the total cost of a player is not only his transfer fee.
Diaz is severely underpaid at Pool even by their own wage structure (3.4 m gross), while options like Nico or Leao currently get 10m and 6.5 m gross respectively, which means they will get way more than Diaz if they come to Barca

Hence, the total cost of Diaz over a 5 yr contract will be much less than the potential cost of either Nico or Leao

PS: If I were Deco and Fatporta, I would go for a clever option with great estimated projection.
Someone like Gittens from Dortmund

I don't believe this rumor, but if they buy Diaz, it will mean they're definitely going after what i suggested yesterday regarding a front 4.

Diaz is a better fit at striker than Nico, in the rotating front 4.

Yamal.olmo.diaz
Raph.

With a lot of rotation between the front 4.
Movement for days.

Everyone bar yamal will play at "9" at some point of the game/season.

Yamal will rotate between the 3 positions behind the striker.

All that being said, i acknowledge the value proposition of diaz, but i also reject it for nico.

Agree, I see Raph as nominal 9

but it is what we need for Flick-ball: a lot of fluidity, positional rotations and interchanges, and bringing havoc chaos and destruction to opposition defences
