Isn't Puyol Laporte's agent? He could convince him to join us, but as Flavia said, Athletic won't sell him for less than his buyout clause. Young CB should be a top priority for us in the summer and I like Laporte, so I wouldn't be against paying that much for him, but the real question is if he's really complementary to Pique. Can the play together with success. I'm still not 100% sure about that.

Also, what do you guys think about Eric Bailly (Villarreal) and Jorge Mere (Sporting Gijon). For me two of the most promising CBs in La Liga right now together with Laporte and Jose Gimenez. Both are still very raw and right now probably not Barça first team quality, but we should keep an eye on both of them in the future, especially Mere, who's only 18.

Well, we need to get a CB, and if not Laporte, then who? There really isn't a ton of options, especially if you're talking about left-footed ones. Mustafi could be good, but it's Laporte for moi.

What about Mateo Musacchio of Villarreal and Jonathan Tah of Leverkusen? They are apparently on Bayern's radar. Let's mess up their plans. ;)

haha, that's right, so it was Puyol clarifying what Laporte allegedly said to us?

Puyol,Ivan de la Pena & their former agent are all partners in a new football agency .could be any of them or even an employee
Also I am not sure he even signed for them officially ,transfermarket still list Mondial Sport as his agent .and it is a big name in the business for that matter

I'm a bit worried about Musacchio's injuries over the last two seasons. Don't know too much about Tah, but he seems like an interesting player.

Jonathan Tah of Leverkusen?

Yes please.

Laporte is my number 1 but either Tah or Marquinhos should be aggressively pursued if Bilbao wanna start money grabbing and the same with PSG.

We could feasibly sign him for 25-30 million.

With Laporte tho, he is left footed and naturally fits the LCB better than Tah or Marquinhos would. Granted Puyi played there and he was right footed but he was fucking Puyi, easily one of the best CBs of all time, it's invalid to assume just bc Puyi made it work that others will as well. For me its height and technical ability, someone who could complement Pique and Bartra.

All three have the capabilities to be solid #2s only behind Pique but it makes sense for the CB we buy to be left footed. Lastly, if we want a better Mathieu (CB/LB whose left footed) Verthongen wouldn't be bad either if we get desperate.

I have not watched Leverkusen that much this season and I have to say my observation of Tah is very limited, but from what I have watched he is a bit too slow and very raw. Of course he is only 20 (he turned 20 today).

Verthongen is worse than Mathieu and Verm, why buy him?!

There are plenty of teams with great defenses that don't have left footed LCB. It's something that can be beneficial but by no means is necessary. Definitely not a reason to take a LCB that has been more shitty than good for 2 seasons over someone else who has performed much better.

Yet PSG fans are saying Marquinhos is having a bad season too.

Besides, much easier to prove yourself at PSG with Thiago Silva alongside you and other World Class players than at Athletic Bilbao.

Not really a direct comparison afterall...

A defender having much better circumstances and defensive organization will always seem to be better. It's never a fair comparison that way.

Laporte has been inconsistent though with some really great and some really bad games, but certainly not straight out average or mediocre.

He showed great promise at Roma then went on to continue playing well at PSG. Whenever he's gotten a run of games at PSG he's done great, many fans were angry when he got benched after Thiago Silva got healthy and Luiz started over him. Laporte gets consistent football when he's healthy and he's consistently inconsistent with some very, very bad performances.

Oleguer,Puyol,Marquez,Pique,Mascherano and to lesser extent Thuram were the only starting CBs FC Barcelona had since the club new era of success that started with Laporta/Rijkaard around 2003
Non of them are left footed .
