Expect Gimenez' buyout to be bumped, especially with a transfer ban incoming. He's been talking with Atletico over a contract renewal and they'll probably finalize something before the transfer window opens.

Gimenez won't leave Atletico. I've seen Atletico fans on some forums not really rating him high at all though, they always say he makes so many Positional mistakes and he so poor on the ball that they would rather have Savic start over him.

We will have to pay buyout+ tax atletico
With Valencia it's just buyout

How many times has Valencia sold players with only buyouts? only one I remember is Mathieu
I can see Mustafi going for less than buyout tbh , no one would pay his buyout and they will need to sell someone to finalize transfers

I think so many people are used to our horrendous negotiation skills that they just have given up and assume all transfers from now on must be whatever the buy-out is. Lots of clubs are in serious financial trouble and need to sell but we continue to target PSG players as usual. Plus probably Mertesacker. :D

Bolded part is a big plus. I've also seen him playing wide and he was solid. He won't be Alves or Alba but he can cover that spot.

Agree. It's probably still to early to tell that but from what I've seen so far it also seems like he's a big game player.

Bad thing with him is he'd go to African cup every two years though.

It's not that easy. If the player doesn't want to move out nor the club, it will not happen. They were able to keep their best players (Koke, Griezmann and Godin last summer despite the interest from big clubs around Europe), how much more now that they're banned from transfer window.

Of course it won't happen if he doesn't want to move. It's the player who has to pay his buyout clause himself so we'd have to convince him first to join us. If not, we won't waste our time with him.

No because buyout means have to sell - they don't have a choice if someone pays it and the player is willing to go. Now, I don't now if it is true that he has a buyout clause - someone claimed it. If the player is willing to go or not is no different than Laporte, Mustafi etc. - we would have to convince him :)

It's true. Every player in La Liga has a buyout clause. :)

Didn't he already renew a couple of months ago? I've read that when Man United was interested in him and that his buyout was bumped from 24M to 40M. If he hasn't renewed yet then his buyout is still 24M?

Didn't we also pay Villa's buyout?

Other thing is they are now in a better financial position than they were 6 or 7 years ago when they had to sell their best players like Villa, Mata and Silva (it's a shame because I really liked that team they had). After Lim's arrival I don't think they have to sell anymore.

Giménez renewed in Januar. The reports about the buyout-raise to 40M was last summer when ManU allegedly was interested in him.

No,it was his price tag they wanted not his buyout . same for almost most of the deals .
And Valencia is in better financial situation ,but not in a very gr8 one .they would still have to sell if they want to spend .their owner isn't the "Sheikh" type of owner .they sold Otamendi last summer and he was their top player

FFP makes it impossible for any club to hold on to their players once a big team comes along unless the player refuses. The day of investors building a super team is over.
