We should get Vermaelen, he's a belgian beast defender and his contract ends next summer, so shouldn't be so expensive.

Tiki taka IS OFFICIALLY DEAD now. Time people saw that. Pique was caught ball watching for at least 3 of those goals. We NEED a cb now. Piwues best days are behind him.

Tiki taka is philosophy not tactic. After all the term was first heard during EC (though it was known before) so it's not like Barca didn't have their way or philosophy before that name - tiki taka.

You can't say tiki taka is dead, what that means? Passing is dead? Short passing, quick one-twos?
If we take in to account that long balls associated to england are dead as well it looks like football is dead?

Problem is tactic, we and Spain don't play fast enough, quick enough, we don't move well without the ball, we allow opposition to par the bus and so on...

You are right my friend but that overemphasis on passing and possession leads to Barca and Spain being slow. It doesn't help that the players are getting old too and time stops for no one. I can see Spain doing a France in 2002 and being dumped in the group stages. Chile & Australia are not going to do them any favours.

I just hope Lucho is watching and is thinking of adopting a more direct style. Thinking of transfers-back in the Rijkaard era I can only think of one flop transfer-Maxi Lopez. I'm sure there were more but Lopez was the only standout.

Can anyone remember any flops we signed during that time??

Sell Pique. We don't deserve the best CB (according to barca board) in the team. He is too good, please sell him.

Pique is the best CB in the world according to Bartomeu. No wonder we're in such a shit situation when our President and Board think like that. Too bad Pique is untransferable unlike Cesc.

Yes, that's a problem that Lucho needs to see and change. We don't need to loose control and possession but we just can't play this slow. Actually we can, it's not like we played super fast for 90 mins in golden era (2009 for example) but we were like bees, control, slow, move around and than deadly sting. Now it's just move around slowly without penetration. Of course Alexis looks 10x better with Chile, he is always playin 1 vs 2,3,4 in Barca. Except totall magicians like Iniesta and Messi no player on Earth can win in those situations, or at least he will loose in 9 out of 10 times.
Problem is also in some players: Xavi plays 10 touch football this days, not half touch, he plays only safe passes and offers nothing in defence. That needs to change. Problem is in Messi as well if he is going to walk all the time. He is our main player and he doesn't need to run as much as the rest. He spearheads our attacks and he can be carried a bit in defence, but said in numbers: if everyone runs from 10-12km he's average needs to be 8-9km, 6.5km is rude not to say more. All our players becomed slaves of passing, and when it's slow you have tactical problems. This is why Barca scores so little "easy" goals, we always need some magical touch to create something, and our oppositon alwasy looks like they have amaizing day against us.
Spain is now in the same trap, and VDB is not addresing the issue as well (for now at least). Seeing yesterday line up, without any wide players, fast movers, you could guess how they'll play.

Well we could go on and on about tactical issues, but theme here is transfers so let's stick to the subject :lucho:

Our MAIN problem is midfield. I know people go on about the defence but the midfield is not physical and fast enough. With Rakitic that should improve but the fact is Xavi, Iniesta, and Cesc don't defend enough. We need a box-box midfielder or someone like Rakitic to try and play that role. Busquets is slow and even though he is a brilliant player he gets exposed by the lack of cover and our high line. At our best we dominated midfield and teams couldn't touch us.
