Guys I know it's pre season and we're discussing transfers until we get started again, but.....

Arguing over whether the weather in Manchester will affect a potential signing ? Plus he's from Bavaria ffs.

It rains in the whole of UK at least twice a week from October-May, rarely get snow though, the past month has had amazing weather though. Tevez and Robinho were from South America and therefore makes sense while they will not enjoy the weather here, Bastian shouldn't have any problem however. Cristiano never complained about Manchester just was a Real fan and was bored of winning the league 3 times in a row, needed a new challenge.

Manchester is no Paris/London/New York, but still an excellent city, I grew just outside it in a small town and always loved going there when I was a kid until I settled in London.

I was half-joking about the weather in England, my country isnt exactly blessed with good weather either. Only twice a week with rain? Where im from it feels like at least 4 days of rain/snow, maybe a day or two with sun, on average.

if he was pushed out then i have no idea what guardiola is doing. he has made some very strange decisions in his time as bayern manager. no doubt the pensioner xabi alonso will be trusted with the playmaking duties at bayern next season.

Agent Pep putting in work to ensure that Barca's closest UCL challengers regress with each year :neymar:

So I guess United really is a realistic destination for him after his stint at Bavaria

He is not nearly the player he was a few years ago. But obviously will greatly improve Manchester's midfield as it does not exist.

So non-existent that they ran City and Liverpool twice and Chelsea once? This despite having injuries galore, three different formations in less than a year, Rooney playing CM at times and LVG initially having no idea what to do with Herrera and Mata.

I get that the EPL is behind La Liga and maybe even the BL in terms of quality midfielders, but let's not go overboard.

Not with the money they're spending. Chelsea did it (albeit with one of the worst CL winning squads ever), RM did it after their dark ages, Inter Milan did it with the help of Mou. Big money will lead to quality players, that's all there is to it.

Dont push it. Liverpool pulled a Liverpool, and shitty still finished above United. Chelsea were miles ahead, despite not being all that great.

they won't win in the next couple of seasons, maybe they'll have a challenging squad in 3 or 4 years, these things take time.

Why are you talking about where the teams finished when I'm talking solely about the quality of midfield? United's problem is the lack of their forwards, they had a decent MF which only improves with Schweinsteiger and possibly Schneiderlin.

imo united need two centre backs, maybe a left back if shaw doesn't work out. the midfield is ok, but not great. rooney also needs a supporting striker.

schweinsteiger and carrick could decline at any moment aswell.

I agree that you can't 'buy' a CL in the same way you can a Liga/BPL, but the scatter shot format of the tournament can actually play in favor of lesser teams. With a fortunate Ro16 draw, there are no guarantees to what they can and cannot do.

Rooney is not quite at the level he has been, it seems. Maybe it has its reasons, he still has been better than most, but i think he has declined. If he can get up to his usual level all the better, but he is not getting any younger.

i think experience is important. they need to consistently make the top four and actually try and win the bpl first before making a proper cl challenge, develop that winning mentality together. in general a team that wins the cl has a squad full of players with european experience together and they work well as a unit, united will take time to get there.

Utd used to produce good/great youngsters and attract decent foreign players under Fergie.

Now they seem to have no decent youngsters coming through and rely on buying big names who are just past their best.

Schweinsteiger might have a decent season or two but I can't see Utd troubling Chelsea or City in the Prem any time soon (let alone CL) whilst van Gaal is in charge personally. The Utd board seem to have done a 360 from Moyes to van Gaal, no trust to total trust. It could prove costly.

Falcao was crap, Di Maria was crap plus they have no forward line at present.

Its mind boogling how Utd has gone from the rather conservative spendings of Fergie and then to go full r-tard under Moyes/Van Gaal in terms of spendings and wages. United-supporters seems not to worry at all.
