Bernardo Silva

I already said weeks ago that Madrid is two levels above us. We need to compete hard next season, overachieve, and hope they get cocky and complacent.

But at the same time, we should not get fatalistic and say our midfield is mediocre for top 4 standards. We made 2nd this season without Pedri most of the time.

I'm not getting fatalistic Serghei, I just don't rate the current lot as much as you do. Sure it's not Rayo Vallecano level, but in my opinion could be much better.

I sincerely have zero expectations of competing though, I've accepted the state the club is in and know that football goes in cycles. Barca will have its time again for sure.

If that is thin, then we need 3 more wingers, 2 more strikers, and 2 more CBs, 2 keepers, and 3 more fullbacks .

Apparently we lose:

Dembele
Adama
Luuk de Jong

I hear no replacements.

We need two wingers to replace those, plus another striker.

Very thin. Both Busi and Pedri will play till the end. Gavi and Kessie may rotate with Sergi/Nico as sub (Sergi will play as RB again). This kind of midfielder can fall out easily, especially in tough time (UCL knock out, late league season). None player (bar Kessie) at their prime age. Granny Busi, 20 years old Pedri and 18 years old Gavi

The midfield next season, excluding Frenkie cause he may leave:

- Granny Busi, ok he is good but can be a fatal weakness at the same time.

- Pedri, class but only 19 (20 next season), still at developing ages

- Gavi, good but only 17

- Sergi

- Nico the fat boy.

- Kessie, still a question mark.

So it looks really thin and can easily fall off in tough time.

Biggest problem with this midfield is that half of them (Pedri, Roberto, Nico) have shown worrying injury problems. And that is ignoring age and experience of half of them.

Pedri's injury isn't major one. Mostly because he plays till he is exhausted. Gavi can face the same problem as he has played non stop.

So yeah, it can be a big problem.

No one should have any faith in Roberto even being an option at RB or Midfield next season due to his injury record.

And even then, you get your numbers very wrong. Check the actual data on conceded goals under Xavi in La Liga. We have among the fewest conceded goals, and that's with a crap defense and one of the worst shot-stoppers in the league in Stegen.

That's because the midfield is far superior to the rest of the team.

Meaningless possession's mostly responsible for fewer conceded goals, not a superior midfield. I've been proving such in Gavi's thread. I'm actually surprised his performance transcriptions are worse than my memory of him.

Sure, some of it is the tactical use of negative possession to protect a sub-par defense. But this doesn't explain how our most improved players right now are Gavi and Pedri.

Incorrect, Gavi's performance transcriptions from his most recent matches were a near total abomination. I've proven such in his thread. But as Lucho said everyone likes him, he works hard, he falls a lot, facial expressions of struggling, unhappy, contentious, appeals to blue collar and video gaming average and below average IQ fans.

❗️It is a dream for Xavi to have an interior duo of Pedri and Bernardo Silva.

? Pedri complies with exactly what the coach wants but not the other interiors in the squad. Bernardo fits in perfectly.

? Gavi and Nico are very young and need to work.

Gavi wasnt one of Barcas most improved players.. he was worse by time season finished than he was when broke through and made Spain debut.

With comments in press about Xavi not being too happy with his positioning etc.

The tactics were not to protect the defence either as leaving them constantly exposed on the break with Busi as a sole DM isolated too often.

Pedri looked better as he was about only mid in Xavis squad that suited the higher up in between lines role Xavi wants... FDJ, Nico and Gavi did not play all that well there in comparison to performances previously.

Nico locked decking great in the earlier games before Xavi digged his claws into him, and molded him into a right winger

Gavi is our best mid, but too modern for Xavi. Like Frenkie de Wrong.

He is 17, relax. Also Busi says the same

🗣️ | Busquets: "No matter how many years he's been at La Masia, I think Gavi is still a long way from the positional play, I don't know if it's because he's still very young... he has a natural talent that is huge and that he shows day after day." https://t.co/PFr0ansOmn

Relax about what?

His age is irrelevant to point made.

Busi saying that is irrelevant also and his movement is abslutely fucking horrific for a DM a lot of the time anyway so usual amigo shite when wont look inwards at own failings.

That quote has been discussed long before now.
