When it comes to national squads lots of coaches pick players not in form but the time they spent with the group already, it gives the team consistency and more of a club atmosphere. Everyone is familiar and gets the tactics and there is understanding in the pitch. del Bosque does the same. I'm surprised at leaving luis out though he has been with the team before...

I think Felipao considered Maxwell's experience as a plus for the team. He also impressed Scolari more. It's sad F.Luis isn't coming, though. Best lb I've seen this season.
