Bruno Fernandes

He has the responsibilities of a midfielder, alongside being exceptional at going forward.

I don't feel like he takes much responsibility in midfield. He's all about scoring, the rest of his game is rather average. I think that's precisely why he isn't very good for Portugal.

His defensive contributions to the Manchester Utd team is comparable to that of other top defensive midfielders in the premier league. He's one of the best chance creators from deep too, and his ability to distribute from central areas is critical to Man Utd's counter-attack style alongside with Paul Pogba. He also has heatmaps comparable to other no.8s in the PL, including de bruyne. He is an attacking midfielder with one of the best attacking stats in Europe. That is a fact.

"Bruno Fernandes is a forward lel" sounds like terrible cope to justify your biases.

Wow, he's mirroring the Coutinho at Barca arc perfectly. :amazed:

Bruno like Coutinho might be players that need themselves to be the focal point of the team and with Ronaldo and Messi that is/was never possible. Was also not possible for Coutinho at Bayern for obvious reasons.

Not sure any teams aspiring to win the CL or compete for it want those two as their focal points anyway.

Ronaldo miss penalties now and then, and i don't think their conversion rates are that different, but i was surprised to see Bruno stepping up there to take that vital penalty.

Ronaldo ruined his United career, just like his Portugal career.

Bruno looked very good last season.

There is a theory circulating suggesting that Fernandes only played well for United when there were no fans allowed !!

Maybe the pressure of the fans and the boos when he makes a mistake are too much for him

I have to say this clown must be in contention for the most overrated player I have seen in almost 40 years of following football.

He seems to escape all criticism because of his deeply out of context and sometimes fabricated 'chance creation stats' - as if that is all a player has to do. He's the poster boy for the stats era. The truth is he's woeful in tight spaces, cannot dribble, and cannot set tempo, but he will try twenty Hollywoods a game, one or two will come off, and inbreds who have never played the game will champion his 'assist stats'.

People act like he's been carrying United for years, when actually the way he (and Rashford) plays is a massive problem for them and forces them to play this ultra shite counter-attack transition percentages style football they do.

This gimp isn't even good technically and his passing and shootingare hit and miss. Watch Maddison and Kulu yesterday - yeah Maddison messed up a couple of passes, but watch him take the ball on the half-turn, open up space, and find gaps and play little one-two rounds the corners. That stuff doesn't show up in stats but it brilliant for opening teams up and maintaining tempo too. They don't get half the hype this guy does - and Fernandes never does any of that - he is best playing in large spaces and even then most of his hoofs end up going nowhere.

This guy might be the biggest fraud I have ever saw in football. I insult Ronaldo, Bellingham, Haaland, but at least they have actually played in top teams and scored goals or done good things, despite their limitations. People talk about Fernandes though as if United are letting him down. How this guy has managed to fool so many people into believing he's a world-class player is absolutely beyond me. The clown has never even come within sniffing distance of challenging for a major trophy, is constantly putrid for Portugal in tournaments, and has many flaws to his game. He's been terrible for years then has a few good games against cannon fodder and people start calling him 'Magnifico' again.

To be fair some posters on Redcafe have seen him for what he is for a few years now, but they're often shouted down by the deluded Bruno fanboys. But this guy is a decent player at best. Incredibly overrated.
