Bayern Munich: Miss nine games and you're out

Bayern Munich recently informed its season ticket holders that they either attend most of its home games or lose their right to visit the Aliianz Arena, period. Allianz Arena is growing, and a proposal came up to build out its upper tier and expand capacity to around 75,000.

The Bundesliga provides 17 home fixtures per year, and the new policy states that every season-ticket holder has to be present for at least 9 of the games, and not miss more than eight games. Should a season ticket holder miss a ninth game, he loses his season ticket (thereby losing his seat or standing place), and it will then be made available to other interested fans.

if you buy a ticket for 17 games you should be able to visit al 17.
it would be only correct if the club pays back for the games the season-ticket holders isn't allowed to visit anymore.

the club sells the seats in advance to receive more money, so if you pay for the seat, the seat is yours during that time/period.

Why not? If you don't go, for at least 9 games, you lose your season ticket holder's privilege, so people who want to go the games, can go.

cant understand why we are extending the seats???

To increase revenue.

its unnecessary imo, only classicos n CL semis will be sold out. rather than that its useless. we should rather increase n improve our VIP boxes

With the current system in place you keep in place a situation that favours those who once were in a privileged position to get a season ticket. Like Galning and others have said, there are people who actually never go to the stadium and either give away their seat for free to family members, or even worse sell the tickets to others. If you don't plan on going to the stadium you should be forced to hand in the rights of your seat and it should pass on to the next on the list. This will ensure that a) enough people go to the stadium to support our team and b) those who do not plan to visit don't maintain their season ticket so that everyone has a better chance of one day becoming a season ticket holder.

So the lower tier will be rebuilt at a steeper angle and will have a smaller overhang meaning less rows and seats. As a result it looks like 88 suites are been added between the first and second tier.

I imagine some season ticket holders in the lower tier will have to move to the new 3rd tier on the main stand?

you paid for this privilege

if you buy car the manufacturer can't just take the car back some months later just because you don't use it often enough according to the manufacturer's rules :)

Apples and oranges there. Bayern's approach is to make things fair. Barça should copy it.

There's no shortage of cars. Season tickets are limited. Not to mention football is completely different from normal life. Why aren't players allowed to move freely without contracts?

It looks to me like the new seats will be located in the grey area, i.e. the new 3rd tier above the current roof.

To give people an idea of why we need this renovation, the Camp Nou currently has 23 suites. Here is a list of Europe's top 20.

Estadio Santiago Bernabéu | Madrid | 241
Türk Telekom Arena | Istanbul | 198
Old Trafford Stadium | Manchester | 180
Stade de France | Paris | 172
Wembley Stadium | London | 166
Estádio da Luz | Lisboa | 156
Emirates Stadium | London | 152
Twickenham Stadium | London | 150
Vodafone Arena | Istanbul | 147
New White Hart Lane | London | 132
Millenium Stadium | Cardiff | 128
San Mamés Barria | Bilbao | 122
Estádio José Alvalade XXI | Lisboa | 120
White Hart Lane | London | 120
OL Stadium | Lyon | 106
Allianz Arena | München | 106
Villa Park | Birmingham | 105
Estádio do Dragão | Porto | 96
Estadio La Peineta | Madrid | 94
St. James´ Park | Newcastle upon Tyne | 93

We are moving up to 88 suites which will be built between the first and second tier, I imagine a new stadium would have had over 100.
