What's their to be excited about? Blew a 5 point lead, pres resigns, boardroom turmoil, haven't played well at all in the new year, going into a CL tie that many think we have no chance, ex coaches coming out and saying we play like shite. Can see why nobody's going to the games.

Firstly, the poorest league attendance this year was the Malaga game: 56, 000. Hardly no-one. I would put that down to ticket prices that not priced right for a team that sold all their good players. Plus it was 21:00 on a January Sunday. In Guardiola's final season we had two games with under 60, 000 around winter time.

And I don't understand why you think the reasons you cited for not attending are justified? Man Utd get 60, 000+ every game and they are truly dreadful. You attend because you support the team.

But those are exactly the times the team need support the most. Can't go only when everything is going well.

It does work both ways and the team need to play more exciting football to draw the crowds in.

Most people who are considering going to watch Barcelona know they will win 9 times out of 10 at home. The issue is whether it is worth paying the money and taking the time out to go along when they are playing like they did last night.

It will make people think twice. Even when it is cheap cup tickets.

I think the time had more influence last night than style. People don't not go to games because they expect to win.

The time will play its part as well clearly.

I am not saying they wont go as they expect to win but people are not stupid and know 9/10 the team will win. So the excitement of going is not about really anticipating the result but the performance you are going to watch.

Almost all clubs fans get complacent and even winning all the time does not keep the crowds up.

If Milan were fighting for Serie A you can guarantee their crowds would improve. They have an empty stadium because they are unsure if the team can beat Livorno...

Milan and Barcelona are totally different situations.

Milan fighting for the title would most likely bring a tough game every time and that brings more excitement to the games than knowing you will win 9/10 and have been doing that for 4/5 years.

Plenty examples of it happening. Fans can get used to success and even if the teams are still at the top the crowds become complacent and want more than just wins. They want to win in a certain style.

Every home game Milan have is tough now. They have a realistic chance of losing every game they play, and it is because of that that they have poor crowds.

If our fans thought we would lose against Elche no-one would turn up.

You are not getting it.

I am saying teams that are challenging for titles and winning 9/10 will need to play in a certain style to attract big numbers every week.

People turn up knowing they will win and the excitement needs to come from the football on show.

Plenty of examples of that at more than Barca.

Yep. Barca fans want to be entertained. Free flowing, Champagine Football. If your going to lose, atleast look pretty doing it.
