Cesc started shit this season, then was great and is poor again currently.
There is more pressure on him cause people expect him to be xavi/iniesta level and he isnt most of the time, especially in big games.

I really don't think he started that badly. He played average for like the first 2 weeks and the media went crazy saying he has been terrible for Barca. I thought it was pretty harsh on him at the time. If he was playing bad for the first month or two then fair enough, but they didn't even give him the chance to get going before slating him.

Exactly. The media/"fans" love to hate Cesc Fàbregas.

Cesc: "The fans ask more from me than from others. A bad games sets me back 10 good ones. But I knew it'd be like this, it's normal."

Insolence.
When did he make this statement ? Because I feel that the club has more pressing issues right now than Cescs' emotions and disrupted sense of self. If he can't cope with this, I'm sure he can find himself a self-regulating community that deals with his 'issues'.

Perhaps he was asked a question about himself? I don't KNOW, just saying. I don't see anything wrong with him commenting on his own personal situation for a minute. I've seen these press conferences where the players talk about their own individual progress for a bit... it's fine and natural, we also want to know how our players are doing individually as well as collectively.

People DO expect a lot out of Cesc because they know how much he is capable of. They know he was one of the best players in the English Premiere League @ Arsenal by age 24. He has been GREAT for us, arguably our 3rd best/most creative player this season and in the beginning of last season as well. When he under performs, loses possession in midfield, does not make great players, runs and throughballs/produces goal chances and goals like we expect of him... then people come down hard on him.

If we all had just average/mediocre expectations of Cesc then this would not be a problem, but everyone has exceptional expectations of him so when he does not meet the "exceptional" status 100% of the time he gets some flak. I think there is definitely some truth/validity to that. It's kind of the same way with the club as a whole right now if you think about it.

But it's not about his performance or the expectations people have with him, his individual progress or his 'feelings'. It's about giving completely retarded statements to the press:

Our coach has a potential life-threatening disease, the team just lost two clasicos, is on the brink of elimination from the CL and generally in low form, one of our players received a liver transplant and slowly fighting his way back into the team (which is a damn miracle).
In times like this, if someone asks him about his feelings or something like that his answer should be:'Doesn't matter'; because it doesn't. Instead, he criticizes the fans for having a generally (too ?) high benchmark. And this is not the first time he talked stuff like that.

So, even if his statements were true, the timing isn't exactly the best.

Agree with the couple of posts above. Also hope he doesn't start against Milan.

As fans it's best when you support the players than add to the woes. I don't think Cesc has been as bad as some in here seem to depict. He's been far from our worst player, honestly Messi has been more of a reason for this slump than anybody else. His lack of movement is causing a big problem and the midfielders don't have much options when passing forward. Cesc has had a good season so far, a couple of bad games, yes! but so has every other player in the team.
He's a brilliant passer, one of the few in the team the likes to take more risks. But when there's less movement upfront, he's very little to offer.

And someone had dropped a quote in the previous page, which I found no where else in the internet. I don't know what you tried to do, just add to the hate that's already in here or tried to defend the fella but ended making things worse. But please don't post stuff which has no credibility.

Some of the last posts here display exactly what some of us have been saying. No matter what he does, he'll always be treated like the bad guy by some. It's unbelievable. We have no information on the context whatsoever, yet Cesc is "a lil' twat" for saying whatever he said. Someone already asked this, did it ever occur to you that he was maybe asked a question about his own playing or progress or whatever? That it was perhaps one of many questions? You just immediately assume that he's a selfish twat who cares more about himself and his position in the team than the club, the team, Tito's health, etc., just because you heard ONE statement, out of context. Just stop for a second and think about how judgemental you're being in this situation.

He said also he can contribute from the bench and he and Villa aren't competing for a place because they can play together.(hint: drop Pedro).

Our season really changed with that Bernabeu Copa del Rey game. If we had scored when Fabregas robbed the ball from Diego Lopez and passed it to Xavi, who then hit a weak shot that Varane could clear, or from this chance, another Cesc pass which Pedro missed :

we would still be in the copa and Madrid wouldn't have gotten their confidence back and more importantly, our players wouldn't have lost theirs. We defended really well in that game. It certainly wasn't anything like the mess we see at the moment. The only players outside of Messi I have hope in scoring are Adriano, Villa, Tello and Cesc when he plays natural and doesn't force it. Against Milan if we need one goal in the final moments, we have to find a way to get all of these players on the field. That means subbing Villa off for Cesc or Alexis = stupid but having their varying styles compliment each other might sneak us over the finish line.

A goal like this next Tuesday will do nicely.

He is playing in the role that Iniesta would normally play so he will always be judged relative to what the Don could have done.

It's from Cesc's press conference yesterday.

Cesc: "Mourinho obsessively talking about Barça? We all know how he is. You can't add much. If he wants to do that... Doesn't really matter"
Cesc: "The fans ask more from me than from others. A bad games sets me back 10 good ones. But I knew it'd be like this, it's normal."
Cesc: "According to the press, Villa and I are competing for one spot, but I think we understand each other well and can play together."
