Cesc Fàbregas

He is playing in the role that Iniesta would normally play so he will always be judged relative to what the Don could have done.

I don't think so. Cesc is always criticized no matter what position he plays. As I said before he's a player everyone loves to hate...

He's had a streak of several brilliant performances, but his problem is still inconsistency. Sometimes he's fantastic, sometimes he looks like he's playing with his eyes closed. Although, this latest dip in form occured after his hamstring (?) injury in late December. That might have something to do with it. He was really from the start of the season up until that point.

Eh he was still doing really good in January by my standards. I think his most recent dip in form correlates with everyone elses dip as well. The thing is that he plays the final ball to whoever is in space/making the run to score. Hard to play well and set up an attack when no one is making a run. Iniesta doesn't have it as bad as Cesc because he has more of the ability to create a chance out of nowhere and fluidly orchestrate the entire attack.

Cesc is not the problem, he needs willing runners to do his thing. Messi most of the time refuses to run for anybody (all he wants to do are his favourite 1-2s) while preventing us from buying or using high quality runners.
When Cesc looks up all he sees is the big hole left by Messi. Imagine Cesc in that Madrid team with CR7 Huguain Di Maria etc making DIRECT and EARLY runs for him. BOOM

True. Cesc can split defenses with his throughballs, and makes these passes when thinking for only a split second. He needs players who will run into those positions though. A powerful, hardworking striker would be the perfect "plan B". Someone like Llorente or (in a couple of years) Lukaku

Heard some whistles when he came off... While he wasn't spectacular, he was correct and definitely not deserved the booing...

What's this all about really? Sickens me.

Cesc: a few words of advice. Leave your boyhood club ASAP. No way to be treated. Totally ungrateful fans.

I was very disappointed by him today. Looked clueless going forward, lost possession so many times, and failed to make any positive impact. Hope he either improves before the Milan game or gets dropped.

He wasn't that bad; by his high standards he was poor, but as a midfielder he was pretty good. Lost possession a few times but overall played well, accurately distributing the ball and keeping things ticking.
