If we brought him back and sold him to Palace ourselves, we would make 15m and not 10m
That's assuming we would be able to sell him for 18m which is doubtful. More likely we would get something like 12m and some (hard to be achieved) variables so eventually would probably benefit the same (but would waste time for negotiations and probably also money for agents fees etc.).
I think sometimes it's better we let other teams do negotiations for us because we mostly suck at those.
It's good short term money no doubt. In the case of Abde this type of deal worked out well as the player would evidently have tanked in value had we kept him around.
I think Chadi could have a function in the squad next year and provides coverage to allow for a bigger sale while the release of Inigo (who Xavi is clearly trying to influence by consistently playing lately) and Alonso.
And also to put to bed the idea of Flat Eric returning. So in that sense, he could be a 25-35m rated player for us in a years time if we have him on the 1500 minutes that Inigo achieved.
I rate Chdi higher than any CB we have other than Christensen and Araujo (assuming Kounde is RB) but I doubt the club shares same opinion.
So, unless Araujo is sold, he will be far behind in picking order and it makes sense for everyone to do the deal. Chadi himself won't come here to be 4th option.
Now if Araujo is sold, and Christensen is moved to CDM, we could use him back.
Problem is we don't have a buy option this season. So Betis can told us to either pay the CP money or accept the deal.
They will be the one in control, not us
Yes but I think club's plan was always to make money on Chadi rather than bring him back.
And that was before Cubarsi's breakthrough, now I think they see him as even more expendable.
Only time will tell if that was a good decision or not.
I am pointing out to the scenario of trying to get him back, that in itself is difficult one.
We could just pay Betis 7.5m if we want him. They would make a 7.5m profit either way since half of the Crystal Palace money goes to us.
This seems like a decent way to go about it. Araujo had an off year for sure, but unless Chadi has a lot of speed I'm unaware of, we'd be missing a CB with pace and that's the one thing Araujo gave us that is invaluable. He bailed us out a lot with that speed in the past, despite his poor form this season. Faye appears to be athletic, but would probably benefit from a loan like you said if he wont get regular minutes in the first team.Or maybe we go with plan E.
Sell Araujo for 80m
Bring back Chadi
Move Kounde to CB
Buy a RB for around 30M.
DM for 50-60m
Absolutely no one at the club is thinking that complex lol.
Kounde Christensen cubarsi,Chadi, faye. Martinez
Ain't half bad
Edit, actually I'd loan out faye to girona.

I'd also not have confidence in the board/Xavi to bring in a useful RB for only 30mil. I actually don't want Xavi signing anyone, really.
"Frimpong has pace, dribbling and balls. He can beat defenders and get into the box. We havent had that since early Alves. Meunier is already 30 and he's average going forward and not great defensively. Flushing money down the toilet. At least you get someone who is effective going forward in..."Yea I agree re the athletism factor of Araujo Is the biggest reason why he's our most important defender, Kounde isn't slow or weak, but Araujo is just a physical monster, only Faye looks similar of all the CBs we have, so selling Araujo is a risk, but I think Kounde would explode at CB if given a run of games, he's class at Sevilla wasn't a fluke.
Xavi shouldn't be hand picking players, but i'm sure there is a top quality RB out there somewhere we can sign for 30m euros or less
Frimpong's buyout is 40m euros, not that I think we'd be in for him, even though we should be.
