With Inter history in throwing the title away, I really don't think so Ed. Mourinho was brought in to win CL and continue as Mancio did in the league. I can't imagine a quarter final place is worth more than undoing the Mancio legacy.

Well not to put it too bluntly Sergio, but the others Roma, Milan, Juve are just too inconsistent and have some crapness in their team, too much to crapness to hide, for them to win the title. So Inter with half an eye on seria a will still win it.
But I also disagree with you further in that I believe Moratti would easily reject being serie a champions, to win the CL. In fact I'd go so far in saying that if I offered Moratti the CL this season, but you'd have to sacrifice this seasons and the next 2 seasons serie a titles, he'd do it.
The CL is the only thing off his CV, its the one thing he has never won. Mourinho sure has hell would not accept that offer, but I truly think Moratti would.
Inter as European Champions is his long hailed dream Sergio.

For sure it is his dream and gol, but with Inter recent history in throwing away Serie A, I don't see it being tolerated, especially as the likely culprit would be Milan.
I agree that Milan and the rest aren't good enough, they won't. Thats not the point, it's wether Inter would run the risk of losing to them, not that they would lose to them.

I have a strange feeling that we'll have a surprise final this year, Inter v Bordeaux or Sevilla v Porto. None of the big sides look all that impressive and there's a sense that everybody is capable of losing to any of the sides left in the competition with the possible exceptions of Stuttgart and CSKA.

I agree with CA in that it could well be 2 surprise finalists, as we haven't had that in a while and probably due one.
Still think fate will bring either Barca and real or manure and real together in this competition.
For me this is Inter's year if they want to win a CL title as they seem to be a strong as anyone. I also doubt they'd get a better chance.
