I watched both games, the tactics differ slightly but the message is the same. Don't play to win, just put everyone behind the ball. Poor Torres deserves better, he wasn't given a chance tonight.
Atletico could have won 1-0 with better finishing. The match was chelsead, but Simeone's men still have plenty of chances to go trough -- especially without Terry, Lampard and Cech (their 3 legeds).
Our tactics to keep the ball on the ground and look for open spaces perhaps is better choice after all.
And it's not only Costa, they also tried long range shots, Diego Ribas had like 6 shots from outside the box and nothing.
because nothing works against the bus apart from luck. oh and counter attacks, but barca don't seem to get it. the best chances against bus parkers come from counter attacks
The bus this, the bus that. All Atletico has to do to go through is to score one goal on Stanford Bridge and make sure they don't concede two. Chelsea need to score also.
Chelsea are screwed

Not only counter attacks. Long range shots actually works better. Something that Atleti barely tried, and as barely as they did they were either off target or poorly taken.
Well, maybe some changes to the rules of the game to help encourage attacking and discourage camping and fouling.
Team fouls, like in basketball. After a certain number, some reward to the fouled team, and/or some penalty to the fouling team.
Can't see implementation any versions of the 3-second rule (penalizing camping) and 24-second clock (penalizing possession)- just too difficult on a soccer pitch.
Possibly some reward for the most attacking team in the first half- team with most shots on goal in 1st half gets an extra (4th) sub.
Maybe some scoring (fractions of a point) to reward attacking play, in case of draws (i.e. +0.25 points for most shots on goal, -0.25 points for most fouls committed, etc.).
