Working hard won't be nearly enough to help against Iniesta and Neymar and Alba on that flank, he'll get completely overwhelmed no matter how much he runs. I do admit Alaba is better defensively, but I think Alba compensates that with his stamina and workrate. And I would compare the CBs, Dante is currently better than our starters but Boateng slides in every time the ball comes near him and Neymar and Messi will be able to easily draw fouls from him.
Well I'd say Ribery+Alaba vs Alves is a bigger worry for us than Neymar+Alba vs Rafinha is for them. Effort does matter in this sense, since at the very least Rafinha will be able to hold his flank much better than Alves will even if he doesn't offer as much in attack. Plus, who's to say that Pep wouldn't play Lahm as RB against us since he's probably only playing him as DM because Martinez and Thiago are out. CB's are even less of a contest.
