I think alot of people here are still confusing terms around "posession football". Its not about having the most posession you can by passing the ball around and not attacking directly and penetrating...like Bayern did today... or like Barca has been doing for a while now.. its about attacking and about pressuring the opposing team like crazy after losing the ball... and the side product of this is more posession. Thats how Barca played at its peak few years ago, not like we play today and certainly not like Bayern plays.

At least some people are keeping a clear and rational mind.

Barça system is not about possession, but about using the most effective tool in modern football (possession) to achieve tactical aims, of course to be effective, possession football needs some requirements (intelligent mouvements and positioning, tempo variation, combination game, actions trigers relatively to the offensive animation), without these elements, the possession based football becomes unidimentional and thus very predictable, this is what happened to Bayern and Barça (the last 3 seasons).

Fully deserved for CR and Madrid. Hate to say it but credit where it's due. They look dangerous.

Congrats to Beast and Madrid fans. They deserve this.

Thanks Hermano , You've always been a class act ... been a rare thing in the forum especially when you see the comments in this thread...between outright hilarious to outright butthurt :D
I remember this was posted over a week ago... Haha.

Seriously, though. The fotballstyle of possession for possessions own sake is dead - it's time Pep realize this. This doesn't mean the end of tiki-taka as a style, it just needs to be played more vertical like Dortmund - or of course the best example, Barca anno 2009. Pep has been blinded by possession, and if one was ever to make a case that possession is worthless if it isn't used for anything, these two matches are perfect examples.

Agreed Football always need to evolve .. otherwise we will be still playing MW invented gazillion years ago or 4-4-2 diamond .. etc

Nah. Not that much. It's only better because Real is...well, Real. The football they are playing is way more worthy of winning than Chelsea.

Leo let him.

Respect
Disagree with the Rijkaard praise we sucked as in 2006 final and probably should have lost had it not been for Valdes. That team was big and physical but not that good compared to Peps sextuple team. I do think Pep abandoned ship too early, it just didn't feel right timing when he left. He sure did leave a team of midgets though, fss.
For Rijkaard credit , you have to consider the CL was your achilles heal ... you were actually a nobody in the CL history .. this always transmit to the players the eternal "close but no Cigar " .. losing all the time or not even reaching a final has been your thing.. breaking the duck is not easy.. look at how many manager failed to get Real past the round of 16 in that dark period between 2004 till 2010... even Capello & Pellegrini failed
Rijkaard achieved your only second CL win.. that was not easy and Arsenal still knew how to play winning football back than ..Rijkaard win was the corner stone for the CL that came after & the believe that this type of football can dominate Europe

Agreed.

It's not even debatable.

Ronaldo is having the best CL campaign (so far) in the history of any player. I despise him, but the CL is more pressurized than any other competition in football and he's done amazingly well (so far).

Agree
Did Ronaldo even score against Dortmund? He scored like 12 goals against the canon fodder of the group stage and then gets praised like a God for a pretty good but not amazing performance. People say Ronaldo is the goat every time he scores a few goals while Messi is on his couch. Then Messi comes back and reminds the world he's miles better. We could say down the line that Ronaldo ends his career a better goal scorer than Messi but Messi is so much more than that. Real were great today but Ronaldo gets over hyped constantly.

Can you please look back at Messi 14 goal record and see where he scored them
Butthurt much ?
some people are just.....

True, that hattrick at the Bernaleo was some time ago :tata1:

I wonder if CR goals were penalties what would be said :pep:

Excellent achievement & Carlo deserve all the credit.. how many champions can lose 4-0 at their home ground at this stage

Carlo work is starting to show big time.. amazingly Pepe & Ramos didn't commit a single foul over 180 minutes.. nor did the European Champions managed a single goal..or be dangerous enough to say it was a close match-up ?

whatever happens after that is up to many things.. Carlo did more than we hoped for and he made people realize how bad Jose was .. win or lose that team can only improve

We revenged La liga from the Bundgesliga teams taking them one by one scoring 18 goals over 6 games and conceding 4 goals but the final is a different story and anything can happen over 90 minutes i hope we get our beloved La Decima

Hope Atletico wins it.

If Chelsea goes through, I have a feeling they'll win :puke:

Better than Madrid winning I guess...

Yeah, really hoping that Atleti pull something off tomorrow so I don't have to choose between two evils. From a neutral perspective, I think Madrid deserve it more, but I hate them so much that I can't bring myself to want them to win, even against Chelsea/Mou. Think the only time I've ever wanted Madrid to win was when they played United last season. At the same time though, imagine Mou's reaction if Ancelotti wins the CL in his first season with his old club.

Congrats to the madridistas here though regardless.

How would you describe what Del Bosque does with the National team. Some will be thinking Del Bosque's team does lots of passing so is he going to fail at the world Cup

Painful to admit but...

Pep was completely outclassed.

Ronaldo showed today why he is the best player in the world. Pressure makes diamonds, and he showed it today.

Best player in the world my a**. Leo is and always will be better than him. The amount of ass kissing to Ronaldo and Madrid on here is beyond belief. I thought this was a Barcelona forum? There is no other forum of a team on the internet that acts like this towards their rivals. Madrid have spent 1 billion euro since their last title, La Decima will come eventually whether it is this season or next season, but it will never even remotely compare to what we did under Pep with our home-grown talent.

I also love how all the Madristas come running back when they win but are nowhere to be seen after a loss, they are nothing more than gloaters

Dear Real Madrid fan: describe to me how you feel when you can finally watch a Real Madrid final in HD instead of YouTube..

Kerrybai, Ronaldo looks like a highly motivated man, utterly determined to succeed.

Messi looks lazy and satisfied.

You are right he is unsatisfied, I would be too if I was the most talented footballer to grace a pitch trying to latch onto 10's of crosses every game while standing at 5 foot 7. As much as I hate Madrid I give them credit for hiring managers that suit their style.

u wot m8?

It's one thing to support Barca, it's another to be completely delusional.

The CL is the biggest stage in club football when it comes down to it, the cold truth is that in this year's campaign Ronaldo will be acknowledged for breaking the CL scoring record while scoring on massive stages such as in the demolition of Bayern. Leo is going to be acknowledged for walking around the pitch while his team got pummelled.

If Ronaldo goes on to win the CL, it's not going to be debatable anymore.

Like the other poster said, Leo let Ronaldo have the glory because he hasn't played to his potential while Ronaldo has.
