The inclusion of Bale and Ramos is way less retarded than the inclusion of Alves, Xavi and Ramos, because obviously two fails of epic proportions are less than three fails of the same scale.

Both had a better year 2013 and a bigger impact for their respective teams than Xavi. So I deem that choice less horrible, albeit far from perfect. I grant you that much.

Reus is fine based on last season's performance but Ozil seriously? Neither Ozil nor Xavi have been great last year, and I would much rather have Xavi there in midfield instead. It's also not like Reus has been good this season.

Messi should have been there instead of Bale.
Regarding Özil, besides Ramsey he was without a single doubt Arsenal's MVP this season (remember, this is about 2013, not season 2012/13). Who would have expected Arsenal to top the EPL at this point of the season?
Also he wasn't exactly horrible at Madrid last season. Fed Ronaldo just as many assists (or close to it) as usual.
