And what on earth would you do if the other team scored after yours dominated the opponents for 30 minutes straight and were knocking on the door? 2 freak goals didn't kill the tie, they just gave us the advantage.

Seriously, we're talking about a team who until that moment looked super solid, had good looks, scored an away goal and completely looked the part. Giving the ball to Neymar was logical, because he was unstoppable 1 on 1 but got selfish and let the tactical fouling get to his head. Otherwise gameplan was very good. Even moving Alves to midfield wasn't a terrible decision since Cavani was invisible. Y'all are treating this exactly like the bottlejob at Camp Nou which this was so so so far from the same thing.

Another 10 mins and Madrid would've scored 2 more. It was a mini bottle-job. Dominated 2nd half until they collapsed and started to serially fuck up like they know best.

I'm gonna enjoy this CL. A lot of teams of different strenghts and weaknesses. Not even a single team is the full package. And I like that you can't really draw a piss easy opponent in the QF.

Great possession team, ran by the best manager - City
Mentally strongest team with experience and one that speculates every error to the great distress of their rivals - Madrid
Most energetic team, one that can act the most inspired and one of the fastest units in the game - Liverpool
Traditionally pain in the ass to play against, known to have the most outrageous kind of luck when playing a certain Spanish side - Chelsea
Underdog, but ran by a manager who's made a reputation of parking the bus to sometimes shockingly good results - United
Very physical and calm team, almost like a machinery with some of the most talented players in the game in several key positions - Tottenham
German team drilled by a German gray-haired dude who happens to be a treble winner - Bayern Munich
Best team in the world at the moment, underachiever in recent seasons in CL - Barcelona
Expensive and occasionally spectacular team, known to go on frequent shopping sprees, and also known to have a bottle fetish - PSG

that enjoyment will be of diminishing returns once madrid roll into QFs and beyond. we need to draw them in the QFs and take them out or die trying.

@Wolfe, for one they have several players that's either won or gone to a final, unlike PSG who got two such players in their starting XI. Three if you count Motta. And Neymar's ability to lead by being the main man have always been questionable due to his volatile nature when things don't go his way. Their captain is a man who starts to cry just because he has to take a penalty. The mental scars from last years won't go away this quickly. It's probably always in the back of their heads.

The question of what if.......

Name one team that would stop that momentum shift at that time. Other than a Messi team.

Hence why they invested in experienced dudes, brought in players who won CL before and/or played in the semifinals. This ain't an Ibra team anymore who are satisfied with goals and stats, but no trophies. They'll bounce back off that experience.

For me it's simple.

Real Madrid have gone through and will gain huge momentum now. I don't trust any team but Barca to eliminate them. Man City and Liverpool look good, but the former have never won this competition and the latter last won it over a decade ago. Both can beat any team on their day, but there's something about them I just don't trust.

Match up wise Man City would probably match anyone right. Speed, strength, they got it all. Got a great manager, but that defence could still get caught out, very inexperienced.
@Wolfe

So did Juventus, but they still lost. Neymar is probably one bad play away from getting sent off in the return leg. I see your point, but I don't trust PSG to stop Real Madrid from scoring.

If you score one, they have to score three and if you manage to score two.....

The job have gotten very difficult for them. I think they'll lose it if you score that one goal you probably need to secure it.

Also, Neymar has gotten back to all his bad habits in PSG. At Barca he always had Messi and Suarez, Iniesta and others to keep him in line. Neymar cannot suddenly switch it off and start playing it smart. It just won't happen.

Take it easy. Our season will be very good either way. Relax and stay positive. Madrid are under more pressure since their season will be pretty shit if they don't win CL.

All teams can knock out any other one, except for Roma/Shakhtar. Some have more advantages than others, sure, but neither one is in a league of their own so to speak.

Our season will still be very successful, but it's high time we start performing better in the CL and make a deep run until at least the SF.

A team like Barcelona with a player like Messi cannot struggle to get past the R16 and get knocked out in the QF regularly while looking toothless.

Will leave Barcaforum for a while if Real prolongs CL again.

What do you care. You got the Liga right? I thought CL is a competition for lucky teams ;)

Meh, Juve are putting their faith in some wrong players, much like Madrid are in the league.

You never know with Neymar. I agree he is a loose cannon, but he's got a lot to prove and may realise he literally has to make the right play every time in Paris instead of going for personal glory. There are a plenty of experienced men in PSG to tell him that now. And Neymar alone can make 2 goals out of nothing. Especially if Carvajal starts.

Don't like how we are speaking about Messi as some sort of amazing advantage before he even gets to play. His performances count in CL, not his talent and not his ability.
