Also, how does this work when the top 8 join? Another 50% draw? I'm guessing Top 8 (who play the 2nd leg at home) can get anyone from the 8 teams who won in the first knockout round (thus 9-16 ranked teams technically)??? I'm guessing this is it, cause rankings aren't a thing anymore after the first knockout round, teams who win the first round won't be ranked 9-16th anymore, no? So the only logical thing is anyone from top 8 can get anyone from the other (promoted through the first knockout round) 8 teams.

Any draw should be abolished, and the whole path should be determined according to position.
The bracket should be out the moment the league phase ends.

Well, they finished quite low that is why we can play them sooner. Lille finished considerably higher than them for example.

Still if you look at the other side of the table, we have very good chances of making the semis. Avoided Madrid, Atletico, Bayern, City, Inter, Leverkusen, Liverpool, Arsenal until semis at the earliest.

With some luck even PSG is avoided and given to Liverpool.
