Yes, but still with an element of unfairness.
Liverpool for instance did everything in the group, but will now have a path of PSG/Villa/Arsenal or Madrid to the final.
You can't say they deserved such a difficult path.

But I am not gonna complain this season, cauz we have the easiest path to a final EVER

Nah, what are you talking about?
You can't calculate where others will finish.
Besides these positions were changing every 2' in the final matchday
Liverpool finished 1st, did the best a team could do in group stages.

That is more or less just a tougher than would want last 16 tie for Liverpool which can happen in old format if bigger teams have a poor groupstage.

Meeting Arsenal etc in quarters and other of the better teams is likely either way.

Imagine a Liverpool vs Barcelona final. This forum would go crazy! 🤣

Should really be the final from what we have seen from all teams this season.
But the two best teams in Europe rarely ever meet in a final.
Usually only 1 of the two makes it.

Last time I can recall that happened was Barca-UTD 2009

Old format was certainly more unfair. No question.
This format could become better with a few tweaks though to make it more fair.
Everything should be determined by group stage rankings, and there should be no draw for anything.
Once group ends, bracket should be out until the final.

Also, I didn't like they drew the home team for the QFs and the SFs.
Why?
Higher in the group stage teams should ALWAYS have their return leg at home.
Barca got killed there, we have to play both QF and SF return leg away

On a serious note now:

I think we have to reach SFs, no excuse there.
And it will be a big improvement in our CL record compared to the past many seasons.

I don't want to underestimate a SF against Inter.
Tough team, and they have their return leg at their home.
We will have to bleed to go through

Possibly but for Barca now not even sure home leg is a huge advantage anyway.

They dont play all that well in Olynpic Stadium in pressure games so far.
