Inter have made B tier signings because they cant sign the best. Its just hindsight and rose tinted glasses to claim these were always insane transfers.
In reality the likes of Darmian, Sommer, Thuram coming were due to the absence of money and needing cheap options and they have just made it work.

At the time, nobody at a top club would have accepted such transfers to their team.

I alm late to the party but sometimes, actually most of the time, it is about the execution of the strategy rather than the ideas itself.

The idea of getting a guy like Romeu was inter esque, a cheap old veteran who is doing amazing in the league. The execution was awful.

OTOH, Barca FA & loan strategy has been fairly on point. The Auba, Adama, Alves, Christensen, Kessie, Gundogan, Cancelo & even Felix were all good deals. Alonso and to lesser extent Inigo was meh but that is normal.

I believe you when you say inter plays nicer football. But the mental side of things is huge in cl

Not just nicer. You could say for half of Europe that they play nicer football than Atletico. Even the likes of PSV plays nicer football than Atletico

It's the 'level'. Inter plays something that is 3 levels above. That is seen week in week out and in the course of the whole season.
In a knock-out anything can happen for tons of reasons that are simply contingent.

Birdy is right here, of course. Inter is a much better team than current Atletico. Today’s match was more even, but Atletico got blown out of the park at Meazza.

But at the end it comes down to small differences, who took their chances and who didn’t.

@Birdy sit the fuck down, ya pompous clown. You were anointing Inter and Inzaghi when more sensible fans here were telling you about Simeone's LONG and PROVEN history of beating top teams (sometimes in an ugly way, sometimes by sheer tactics) - he has beaten MSN Barca, Pep's Bayern, peak Pool, and many more in CL ties

@ajnotkeith no hate for you but hopefully this result supports the points I was trying to make how Inzaghi hasn't yet earned the caliber that Simeone and Allegri displayed at their best (which is beating top teams in KO ties)

LL with 3 teams in CL QFs...even in its current disarray with a financially crippled Barca

Mighty Serie A with what, 0 teams?

Mighty EPL barely squeaking by with 2 teams. Of course EPL is best league going but LL is still >>> other leagues.

Even the difference between Premier and LaLiga is not that big despite the money, City and Liverpool are above all but City sort of pairs with Madrid, then the rest isn't that different other than Pool (for now), and they are losing Klopp.
