United players vs Barca players
Just wanted to start a little debate. Us vs ye.
Ok player vs player.
VDS VS VALDES
Imo, Edwin just about shades this one. I think Valdes is a very underrated keeper. A lot of fans have labelled him a liability following the Liverpool debacle 2 years ago. But I think he has been unbelievable this year and he saved them from conceding a costly away goal vs Chelsea. He also like VDS made a record for onrunning clean sheets in the Champions league this season. However, I think one would have to give Van Der Sar the nod here. You just can't argue with 14 clean sheets on the trot and his absolute dominant presence in his 6 yard box.
Brown VS Alves
Hmmmm. I think people might call me biased if I went for Brown on this one, but I think last year he provided us with an unbelievale defensive stability and he got foward and linked up with Ronaldo unbelievably well down the right so well all season. But I think, Alves has to get the vote here, simply because of his attacking ability. Maybe, he was sloppy vs Chelsea but he usually has the best delivert in the whole of Europe.
Vidic vs Marquez
A non starter really, I don't think anyone could argue this one. 7 goals from centre back and our player of the season. Absolute quality. I think Marquez has a lot to offer too, but he has been fairly precarious throughout this season and has been the root of many of Barca's defensive frailties.
Rio vs Piqué
The teacher vs The student here really... During Piqué's time at OT he learnt his trade from studying Rio's style and even now day's you can see glimpes of his potential to follow in Rio's footsteps... But there's no doubting for the time being at least that Rio wins this battle hands down 10 times out of 10.
Evra vs Abidal
The two french fullbacks. On numerous occasions Abidal has been chosen over Paddy and a lot of French football fans argue that Abidal is a better player. Personally, I don't see what the fuss is about. He's a big slow fullback who is poor at gettiing forward and doesn't offer half as much as Patrice
does going forward. So, definitely Evra
Carrick vs Iniesta
Carrick has certainly come on leaps and bounds from last season imo, where he seemed to suffer as a result of the Hargreaves signing. However, he has blossomed alongside Fletcher at times this season despite fading away a bit of late. But, when comparing him with the ingenuity of Iniesta it is an absoulte mismatch to say the least. Only one winner.
Andersonson vs Xavi
I think over the last couple of months Anderson has really blossomed as a player and all he is missing now as a World class player is an ability to score goals. Which is the total opposite to the Barca man, Xavi who is the master when it comes to creativity for the Blaugrana.
Fletcher vs Yaya
This is definitely the closest of all the one on one battles. At times this season Toure has held Barca together and has allowed the likes of Xavi and Iniesta to bomb forward. But of late, the whole footballing world have begun to realise the true importance of Fletch to United's midfield . He is without a doubt our most underrated player and hence gets the nod from me.
Ronaldo vs Messi
In my opinion number one in the world vs possibly number two. I think Ronaldo is quite a bit in front of Messi atm. Yes Messi has had an unbelievable season, but for me Ronaldo is a much more valuable asset than Messi and beats him in far more areas such as heading, power, speed, set pieces, finishing etc... Therefore Ronaldo>Messi.
Berbatov vs Henry
Well, Dimitar has been a bit of a let down this season, but I still firmly believe that next season he will turn it around. But even so, I don't think anyone could ever compare him to King Henry. He is without a doubt my favourite ever player outside of United. He oozes class and on his day is the most unstoppable player in the world.
Rooney vs Eto'o
I know Eto'o os highly rated in La liga, but from what I've seen of him in big games, he has been nothing short of woeful. That, compared to the man for the big occasions, Wayne Rooney. Only one winner in my eyes.
So final result, 6-5 in our favour...
