Why do you keep going on about this?
There was no "black magic", Chelsea played much better.

They did but you need black magic to beat RM. Otherwise their black magic beats you.

The remnants of Di Matteo's black magic were able to cancel out Zidane's so the better team was able to win.

It is interesting though to see how much faster teams play in comparison with spanish sides.
It looks no one told spanish teams tempo is the new thing in town.

If you're talking about countering well ya mostly that's true. City mostly play like barca though. The other night they were countering a bit more. But barcelona and city are pretty similar in the tempo in which they move the ball around

You think current Barca plays with a similar tempo as City?

Then there is his influences on the club transfers. How many years have we spent chasing Neymars return, or Aguero before that, or De Maria before that.

-1 for Neymar (in 2019, the only time we know Messi actually pushed for player) , we will see if we indeed chasing him again this year. Won't take rumours seriously before the audit is finished.
An argument can be made that even in 1019, we really didn't waste or chase him, we agreed to sign Griezmann in March and had no money for him, would argue it was just Bartou making a show to tell Messi we tried.

-1 time for Di Maria, 2017 when we failed to get Coutinho, for whatever fuckin reason.

-2 for Aguero, one in 2014 as we wanted a 9, we moved quickly from him and got Suarez. Not sure Messi had any influence in 1st time, this year we can say it is because of him but honestly I doubt we would have ever thought about him if he wasn't free

Missed the party here last night, but want only to say

that the black magic was still there.
Like at Anfield where the scoreline should have been 3-0 or so, yesterday should have been 6-0, but it only ended 2-0.
Zidane would never lose his black magic power.

This is the xG map:

And this is the 2-legged xG map:

There are like 10 big chances there for Chelsea both games.
That's a humiliation.

When it comes to the tempo at which both teams move the ball around I think its similar and probably barca do it even quicker. Probably because the club has been playing the same style for decades

Slow is smooth, and smooth is fast!

Barcelona hurry solutions, but have bad angles and positions most of the time.
City are VERY patient and take their time looking for the right solution. They look quicker than Barcelona as they are spread out better on the pitch, more aware and can make easy passes through the lines more often.

I guess pretty much nobody expected Chelsea to dominate Madrid in such a fashion in both legs, a team that only recently moved up from Europa League spots and with Tuchel arriving just three months ago as their coach.
