Champions League

I've always thought what separated Messi from Maradona (both have their strengths as GOATs obviously) is Maradona's ability to thrive in chaotic situations/play.

Messi is basically the most dominant player there is when there is clear, defined play (like a Pep system for example) and has good to great teammates. But he kinda looks lost otherwise (like with Argentina in the past and now with PSG).

Maradona wasn't as dominant individually with a good to great team...but he was really good when there was no system in place either.

Easier to thrive on chaos when you are high, tbf.

That's rubbish for me, otherwise Maradona would have won so much more. He's just judged differently, because most haven't seen him week in week out. Plenty of examples of Messi dominating against the run of play as well, even against top teams (like Liverpool 2018).
