Imagine this winner-mentality Madrid getting Mbappe and Rudiger. We'll have many nights in CL supporting City and Liverpool in the next years.

Don't worry, we'll sign Busi to an extension until 2026. Who else can stop Mbappe but the best defensive midfielder in the world? According to Xavi at least :laporta:

Besides, if by some miracle he gets past Busi, Pique and Garcia will step in to clear the danger. And should they fail, we still have Stegen the mentalist between the sticks.

Rudiger, it remains to be seen how good he is in a traditional back four. My hype train for Chelsea players has taken a stop after their horrow show in last 3-4 months.

Mbappe, though, is a killer. But IMO, their success even today is because of legendary veterans. I don't think Mbappe at his best is as good as Benz at his best, TBH. And there's no replacing Modric in the current market. And their defence is shaky post Ramos/Pepe/Varane.

Current Modric is tremendously overrated IMO. Modric and Kroos are a big reason why Madrid get dominated in midfield big time. Yes they can execute a brilliant pass, but they are very washed up physically.

Current Madrid is Benzema's crowning achievement and what puts him all alone as the best forward of the last 10-15 years after Messi and Ronaldo. Some of his executions are absurd. It's not like he's getting insane passes and he puts them in. He creates freak goals.

It might not be a statistic, or something we can plot on a chart, but we can all see what happens in front of us. They have been doing this in knockout ties for decades now. Probability would suggest it isn't luck and it is part of them.

You can say Benzema as a skillful finisher can pull off xG<0.01 attempts that no one else can.
Let's assume this is true (statistics say it's not), and you grant that to RM as that 'quality' that cannot be plotted on a chart.

What about the sitters Foden, Mahrez, and Laporte missed?
These are 3 goals that anyone could have scored.
Do you grant that to RM? How and on what grounds?
Same for sitters Joginho and Pulisic missed in dead time last round.

Thank you no. There is 0 sporting merit in that
