Madrid looked good, unfortunately. With our defensive problems, I can see Benz and Vinicius have a field day vs us. Difference between us and them is that they look very comfortable conceding possession and defending deep.

Something that I have always noticed about RM too. They always look comfortable defending. Their back four never craps the bed even if Ramos and Varane aren't there. Massive respect to the likes of Nacho and Militao, who are much better under pressure than our starting CB Lenglet.

What's with this salt ?

I can't accept teams reaching semis or finals with black magic.
That's what it's about.

Zidane is the most tactically clue-less of the 'top manager' tag out there...
And it's not 2017 anymore when they had WC players. They are old and mediocre

There's a thing called winning mentality that ZZ has more of compared to any top manager.

You wouldn't know though. It can't be captured by xG.

I will give you that.
Still...
A million other things missing...

PS: Your 'PL team' argument does not apply: Liverpool is playing with a CB pairing that belongs to Crystal Palace EPL level

Just saw the city highlights, wow what a masterperformance from Kevin de bruyne, by far best midfield player in the world. These passes are just unreal.

He was good in highlights.

Over 90 minutes, City had lots of possession and only a few shots.

No wonder when Pep started without attackers.

Dortmund were truly horrible with passing in City's third.
Like a bunch of overly impressed kids with questionable footballing skills.

It's ridiculous to concede those 3 goals at top level.
The first two were mistakes by below par defenders that don't belong to this level.
The last was a huge blunter by Alisson.

Zidane tactics were simple: change the ball from one side to another and cross, then hit long balls to Vinicius.
It's ridiculous that such simplistic tactics to work at this level.
And that's only thanks to defenders that do not belong to the top level
There was no way RM could threaten a decent defense.

Why not? Zidane's tactics have been similar all his career. He relies on quick side switches and prefers his players to cross the ball from decent enough positions. It has worked against better defences in the past and will work in the future. That physical power certain players have in final moments is not that easy to stop for full 90 minutes.

Great, cohesive midfield, confident back four, and a sharp attack can win them anything.

lol people back to overrating madrid. midtable PL sides have thrashed liverpool this season. what madrid did is nothing special, especially against a Kabak-Philips partnership

They got knocked out by Gabriel Jesus last season too

After a better than expected performance im just waiting for the bad news, in this case, more positive corona-tests, no way Varane didnt pass it onto others.
