Besides, that it was Chelsea basically doing anything for a penalty. The fall off of Valdes is insane, from being the sole reason we won in Paris in 2006 to singehandedly causing our elimination in 2007 and 2012.

Trust me, it's not bait. I'm hardly a MATS fan.


I know, MATS doesn't have the best reputation on this forum anymore.


But when he was in his peak, Football fans in general(not just the Barca faithful) used to rate him in top 3 GKs itw alongside the likes of Alisson and Courtois all the time. One quick look at old social media posts will prove this.


I can guarantee you that many people will still pick MATS overall if you ask them about MATS vs VV.


VV was never considered to be in the best GK itw conversations. There were times when MATS was.

Lol I have said this for years. Only Pique handball was a penalty. The rest were clear dives or begging for pens.

It's just the pro PL and anti Barca spin in the media. Everyone has an inferiority complex because that Barca team is the greatest football team of all time.

Plus the fact Barca should have had a penalty in the first leg. And if there was a Barca agenda, a Barca player wouldn't have been sent off.

Chelsea should look at themselves for spending a fortune back then but still playing like an upgraded version of Pulis's Stoke.
