CL Quarter Final: Barca - PSG 1-4

It is not because he touches the shoulder, it is because Araujo' s foot clearly hits Barcola's foot. Not on purpose of course but there's contact in full sprint. Hava a look at it again in replay. It' s a clear penalty.

I dont understand it - if you have the opportunity to watch it again, why you dont do that? Especially in this case, it wasnt even a real foul and it was clear that this Barcola dude will fall down as soon as he notices Araujo's breath behind him.
It's a foul and a stupid decision from Araujo but that happens sometimes (a shame it happened in this decisive game)

The one guy I would take from PSG is Barcola btw. Would have done the job on the left for us. Excellent player at Lyon who should never have made his way to Qatar gaming their FFP.

Vitinha was also good for them but mostly due to us.

Clear Red & Clear penalty. Araujo started badly, gave the ball away poorly and made a stupid decision to try to intercept rather than take a straighter line back to goal and front up Barcola. Xavi had no choice but to sub Yamal really.
From then on we needed leaders and strong defence and we have neither. FDJ has zero defensive awareness, doesn't break up play, doesn't control tempo, doesn't make long passes or make runs in to the box, doesn't score and doesn't assist. Apart from that he's a world class player worth 100m+...
Raphinha never stopped running and was probably the only player to come out with any credit. Kounde and Cubarsi at a push, although Kounde should have done better with a fairly simple clearance instead of using Martinez's ass to pass to Mbappe.
Xavi fell short badly. How can you expect your players to keep their composure when you can't keep yours on the sideline? His younger players needed support and guidance through a difficult situation. He was found wanting tactically too, should have restructured at half time to make us more solid and deny space when we were still leading the tie.

Yamal was taken at the expense of Lewandowski or Raphinha. What has to do Inigo with?
He could have moved Fort in for Fort, Kounde, Cubarsi, Cancelo, but Fort is not good on the right so more sane Cancelo, Cubarsi, Kounde, Fort. But Koundeis not that good CB and made a huge game as fullback. The only question is keeping Lewandowski or Raphinha instead of Yamal.
I'm talking more in the use of using the sub at the time. We need all the subs that in the second half we can to replace the tired legs as we were going to play the match 75% with 10 men so my original point was to restructure the team rather than using the sub.

No, sadly we have no DM or CB to support that. Cancelo was in his world. I mean it could have ended 7-1 or 3-4 but risking with our ineffective attack will be suicide.

Xavi or his brother did that in the last minutes, Lewandowski missed the chance and they made it 4-1.

I mean you need to train that. How many games has FDJ as DM this season or in the entire career at Barcelona?
I mean for Real it worked with Kroos, neither is he offensive or defensive. But now compare Pedri or Gundogan with Modric or Casemiro, Camavinga etc with Romeu, Christensen, Gavi?
FDJ has quality, him, Cubarsi, Yamal, Kounde, Felix Pedri. If we sell him we go one player down in terms of quality. Now compare that to Real and the future isn't bright. But maybe we should sell him, for sure he made no progress at FCB.

The ref definitely could have been more emotionally intelligent especially after letting the game be very physical at the start.

But it was a red.

You just hate that a ref call decided such an important game.

Agree to disagree. Either scenario did not have a favorable outcome and it was all ifs and buts.
