The only thing that can fumble them in this match really is the atmosphere.

I would start the best 11, should be enough to finish them off in first half. Then rest some players.

First of all, Herr Flick, let Big Woj in between sticks in this one, bitte.

Let's keep in mind, that these eastern European clubs with pedigree, like Crvena Zvezda, even though considered minnows, on a good day can bite. In the first 20 minutes, they should be blitzkrieged and neutered, deprived of 'hopes'...don't wanna say 'delusions' because that would be impolite and arrogant.

Dont know about shocking. They have made big strides in recent years. Think they even surpassed Dinamo Zagreb budget who are best team in Balkans.

Fermin is just at the press conference.

"The coach is largely the reason for our good form. We are a very strong team despite being practically the same as last season."

-----

Andrija Maksimovic (Red Star Belgrade): “Tomorrow I will go out and show Lamine Yamal that I am better than him. I also plan to exchange jerseys with him. He's a great player.”

If we judge Red Star by their one home performance versus Benfica in CL then it won't be an easy game.
yea, not a good idea to underestimate them, especially in Belgrade. Barca should win no problem but Flick will be impressing on the players to be professional and not drop standards because it is an 'easier' game on paper.

I still am not familiarized with the new rules. I just intuitively figure they win two more and they're in. But I do like this format better for more veriaty of matches and that there's more of them. Nothing like a good match show on a rainy, depressing November afternoon.

Agreed. So far the novelty and the spontanuity of having no return legs is making every game a one off shoot off.

We will only know the success of the format once the 8 games are over and we see if 20 of the teams end up on the same number of points or something.

Possibly it would be better to move to 10 group games, and have the top 16 qualify only, rather than the preliminary playoff round.
