Oh boy, we're not doing well. Valverde is going to be out sooner rather than later at this rate. It almost feels like we're regressing on a daily basis at the moment. Horribly to see, especially given our insanely good squad. This "system" is just flat out broken and it's painstakingly clear that Valverde doesn't possess the tactical means to change it for the better. We need someone else for this job.
Valverde's odd decisions keep surprising me. Like, why do you throw Umtiti in for 90 minutes against Diego Costa after two months on the sideline? Especially seeing as Lenglet had been absolutely excellent in Samu's absence. Not a massive surprise that Umtiti immediately needs rest after that. But then it's shocking to see Valverde completely disregard this experience, and start both Coutinho and Rakitic today. He just really doesn't learn, does he?
Also, great fun to see van Bommel complain about tackles. That's like Titus Bramble complaining about the level of defending.
