I know, it's a tough climb after that horrendous play from our guys. But, if there's one team who can do this impossible feat, then it's this current side of Barca. When the front three are pumped up, no team is bigger for them. Just 2 goals in first half can really boost up our team spirit. Also the fans backing will be another push for them. Remember, this not the Pep's team or Tito's team who solely relied on one player - Messi. This team is Neymar, Messi, Suarez, Rackitic, etc., all attackers who can score goals against any team at any sec of the game.

If Real Madrid can change a game in extra time, so can we, in 90 mins.

If the score in Paris were 3-0, or even 4-1, I'd have hope. People keep saying "if there's a team that can do it"... I don't remember them doing it recently. Closer to that score was the 3-1 vs Inter. Surely anything can happen in football, but I just don't see it, this time. They really screwed it up in the 1st leg. Pep's team was much better than this one, btw.

What the hell are you smoking, Pep's Barca solely relied on Messi?

Xavi, Iniesta, Busquets, Pedro, Alves...who ?? :coffee:

MSN alone won't do anything even they're pumped up. The whole team has to be on it with the right tactics and gameplan. Just as under Pep, Tito etc....

Okay, let me justify: One thing is, Pep is Pep because of Messi. His manager status is because Messi rescued him from many instances. Second, when Pep took over the senior coach responsibility, he identified Messi's importance; hence was the revival of false 9 where messi fully thrived. Pep built Barca from the groundwork of messi, the whole tactics. That's how Sabella built the Argentenian team. (If in case you don't know, Sabella sought help from Pep before becoming the manager and identified how Messi's role is in a team and how to utilize him.) This current team is difirent - many attackers who can score at any moment, but they still somewhere rely partially on Messi's brilliance.
And in that course they have forgotten their prowess. (See Luis Enrique's goals for Liverpool, watch Neymar's goals for Santos) Once the team can find solidarity, they can create opportunity.

And your answer to what did I smoke, it's called logic. Use it, it'll help you a lot in times. ;)

Barca's uniqueness comes from their already instilled gameplan - tiki taka (total football). Like Maradona said, any manager can come and coach this team and still can win matches (AC Milan comeback proved it because players were alone without a coach at that time - Tito was sick). No wonder because their style of play of football no other teams play in the world. I agree that a knowledgeble coach is mandatory, but without a players like these even a coach's brilliant tactics would be useless.

Well, what about the treble winning season, the whole team was just passing balls to the trio, and they were scoring goals galore?

Reading other forums and threads most believe its possible barca does something legendary tonight.

Dunno why the atmosphere is so negative here.

Better tell them the game is tomorrow!

Unless they are all discussing the u19....

Fuck. I was thinking its an hour away. No wonder I was refreshing this thread and no lineups were coming.

But yeah most believe a comeback for us isn't impossible.

Pep's team had much more than just Messi to it. You think our most successful period ever is purely because we had Messi?

I can definitely tell you you're not using any type of logic there. I guess the likes of Xavi, Iniesta, Ronaldinho, Pedro, Villa, Busquets, Pique, Puyol, Valdes, Alves, Abidal, Toure, Deco, Henry, etc. just *never fucking happened* because Pep moved Messi to false-9. LOGIC!

Deco and Ronaldinho never played for Pep....

There have been other important players for Barcas success over past few seasons as well as MSN anyway.

You cant blame Lucho when team loses then give credit to MSN when they win. Makes no sense whatsoever.

I didn't think about Pep shipping the pair of them off as those early years for me tend to blend together but the point remains the same.

Everything else you said isn't relevant to what I'm arguing against in any way. Pep's Barca wasn't only successful because of Messi. To say such things is ignorant Madridista talk.

Pretty much. Counters were one of the weapons no one had an answer for. The tactics was always to pass the ball to msn as quickly as possible.
The second treble relied way more on Messi than the 1st one did. For goals and assists, Messi was the man. Pep's team was more of a unit.

Of course it wasnt.

Just as much as this Barca success has not been all about MSN with Lucho being a shit coach as you made out.

So many crosses there, funny how I don't remember it that way.

I do have that centenario shirt and still love it :)

About crosses, I don't think that we played English football.
We had possession all the time, but unlike now when we try to score in 90% of actions after a shortpass/through ball on the ground or after MSN's solo dribble action, back then we had a possession, but whenever we were close to a box, our players tried both shortpasses/throughballs on the ground plus crosses as arial actions.

Imo, a current Barca is still a heir of Pep's Barca when it was all about playing on the ground (due to having Xavi-Iniesta-Messi).
Van Gaal's and other Barca's were closer to Bayern's style (possession with lot of direct actions and a lot of crosses also) or of a German NT team under Low, which plays a possession football, but again, they have several weapons in attacks: shortpasses, throughballs, solo actions and headers after crosses.

Also, since we had:
Giovanni 191 cm
Kluivert 188 cm
Rivaldo 186 cm
Cocu 185 cm
Dani Garcia 183 cm
Luis Enrique 180 cm
Figo 180 cm
= we had players who could have scored both with feet and head, so we had more options

Today, when our team has:
Suarez 182
Neymar 174
Messi 170
Or a few years ago Iniesta 171cm and Xavi 170 cm, then you don't have other options but to play through the ground and hope for the best.
If you are neutralized, you don't have a plan B.

About a shirt, it is my favorite shirt of all time (1999-2000).
I don't know, it looked so special back then and so badass to some extent.
When you have seen Rivaldo and our guys in that shirt on a CL night, you had to be scared as f*ck:
