Only one of those games was played in 2021. I think we're a different (and better) team now than we were at the start of the season. Despite losing last week I'd say we played better against Sevilla than we did in the league game against them in October.

Also, we've beaten Athletic twice. They are one of the better teams in the league this year. Their only two losses in last 11 games were against us.

Well, thats true, we play a gear or two better compared to the beginning of the season. But, in the beginning we had 5 of those games where we were clueless in attack, and guess what, same thing repeated against sevilla last week. Our best game possibly was against atm, but the brainfart from stegen decided that game.

You cant predict shit with this team anymore. Would we have more posession? Would they outrun us? Would we miss a lot of sitters? Would our cb's make an fatal error? Stegen? Busi?

For me there are lot of 'ifs' that needs to go our way to make it possible for us to defeat them, im not saying its not possible but that is very unlikely that we would have a normal, perfect game.
I cant see how in the tight game we can scrap a win, psg has better individuals then bilbao, sociedad and whoever the fuck we played last two months where we overcome our deficit.
We either win by 2-3 goals margin which is very unlikely, or we lose which is more realistic scenario.

Given where we are as a club, it's strangely calm for me before this game. Since we have no title ambitions and we've basically become a Top 4 in La Liga team, I go into this game without much pressure, since we are expecting to get thumped anyway. Anything less than a thumping, and I guess I will shrug it off. A win would be great, but if not, then let's just please avoid a thrashing (in both legs).

Biggest concern is whether we can match their intensity/aggression. Pretty sure we are superior when it comes to technical ability. That's never the problem. Every single time we get blown away in CL ( Roma, LFC, Bayern, Juve in Camp nou) we're not aggressive enough, get overrun in midfield etc.

The thing that gives me a bit of comfort coming into this match however is the fact that we never have really looked remarkably disinterested or lacked intensity for an entire 90 minutes so far under Koeman. Physically we are a much stronger team than we have been in the past and at least based off of the CdR displays, Koeman does not allow this team to hide and fade away. It seems his tone and what he demands is finally starting to sink into the players. For me, I think the success allowed the team to forget over the years the small things and hard work it takes to win trophies and Koeman from day one has always harped about improving those things and getting that focus back. We might have had some spells during a half with him earlier in the season where we look flat but the narrative of us being a different team now than the one we were in November seems valid to me. Tonight is a true acid test of whether or not this narrative is real or not.

I expect an edgy, back and forth tie both legs honestly. I think its all about which side maximizes momentum the most in their good moments and on the flip side, who can deal with other teams offensive momentum better. Basically, if it plays out with us starting off with momentum for 35 mins, then it swinging to PSG and back again to us etc., then really what will decide this is which defense buckles less and I think we had the advantage there. Offensively its pretty much a tie for me, in midfield maybe a very slight edge to us (assuming Busi is at his best tonight) and just huge question marks over both defensive lines. The thing is we have played tougher teams than PSG has, have had to suffer defensively more and crucially, have faced adversity this season. That experience might be the difference here but fuck I wish Araujo was fit because he was such a big part of our comebacks. My only legit concern is if Koeman forces Pique into the lineup half-fit and presidente del amigos throws this entire tie with his slow ass but I am praying that Koeman is smarter than that.

One thing that is certain is that this is going to tell us a lot about where this team is, how hard of a job the new board will have here in March and I think will play a big role in if Messi stays or goes. Between all of that and our beef with PSG, the stakes couldn't be higher and I am very curious how the players respond to it. All things considered, while we might still be psychologically weak but they are still rather inexperienced so the mental sides of this could wash out too. We really need to start putting away some of our past demons in this tournament and tonight could not be a better way to start. The CdR displays have given me the slightest of belief that we might have finally turned the page on these humiliations and I hope they prove it is real tonight.

Cannot remember the last time I've been this excited for a match!

What is PSG like in the back? Any chance they give us a couple of undeserved chances like we are sure to give them?

Heard their strongest link Marquinhos-Kimpembe were pretty weak against Nice this weekend. Let's hope that form continues.

It all depends if you press them or not, they have huge brain farts.

In the French league i see them struggle a lot against a physically strong 9

Verratti and Paredes are one yellow away from suspension.

Please make each get one!

I am confident we will score, and more than one, but
Moise Kean's and Mbape's speed behind our back line the real problem Koeman has to figure out how to solve

Should be a very tight game. PSG were clear favorites a couple weeks ago, but important players got injured and Barca's looking a bit better. Kurzawa could suffer a lot against Dembele (he's already struggling against basically any Ligue 1 half decent winger).

Also, I'm pretty sure Paredes will get booked, which could be huge for Barca. Right now he's playing great (I had absolutely no expectations about him, but he's proving me wrong lately).

The closer it gets more pessimistic i am:
This season against strong sides:

Barca - sevilla 1:1
Barca - real m 1:3
Atm - barca 1:0
Juve barca 0:2
Barca juve 0:3
Sevilla barca 2:0

Thats 4:10 goal difference with 1 win, 1 draw and 4 loses in 6 games.

The only win came with 3 rightefully denied offside goals by morata, so it wasnt that we were superior side by some margin.

Thats a terrible record

This way of thinking is invalid apart from the 2-0 L vs Sevilla (in which we lost pretty much due to Umtiti), and I'll tell you why. All the games mentioned above were played under RK's 4-2-3-1 ludicrous experiment, where Pjanic would start one game, then Busi. Coutinho/Pedri trying as LWs, Griezmann not even close to his actual shape, as well as Dembele's and Messi's. The 4-2-3-1 was a fiasco because our pivots (FDJ and Busi/Mire) were tied up to a very stiff and strict position.
I wouldn't place my money against Barcelona in all those matches now that we found a formation that suits us - with FDJ playing as good as ever, with Messi smiling once again, we can praise Mbappe all we want but Dembele is doing as good as ever as well, and Griezmann... lets the numbers talk. I won't deny our defense is fragile but we cope with the situation and we have learned to move forward.

EVER SINCE WE SWITCHED TO A 433, RESULTS HAVE COME OUR WAY, and when they haven't (pretty much 2 games), it came down to a lack of concentration and Umtiti.

Be positive, believe we can do it and be there for the team regardless of the outcome.
