The Camp Nou booed the heck out of them in the first leg. Happens all the time in big games. It only has meaning when there is hate between clubs, which i don't think there is between us and bayern.

Really? How did I miss that?

First I have to say: I am extremely happy and elated that we are in the final. Congrats to our players, Luis Enrique, the coaching staff, our club and every Culé on this planet. :barcascarf:

That said, I really have this bitter taste in my mouth because of this game today, especially the second half. One of the worst performances of the season, and a disappointing loss, after all we have not had a loss in a while and when was the last time we conceded 3 goals? I know it is Allianz and it would be hard and I wasn't expecting us to avenge the 7-0 (fuck that by the way), but I had expected us to play better and not getting totally dominated by this Bayern side. Perhaps some of our players did put their feet off the gas pedal in the 2nd half, perhaps it was fatigue, perhaps it was us trying to save Guardiola's job :)lol:, saw some angry anti-Gurdiola Chinese Bayern fans claiming that), I saw our midfielders being overrun, forced dispossession and errors galore, and our defense being pounded on and we just couldnt get out of our own half, just way too much. We hardly had the ball in the 2nd half and when we did, we could hardly string together several passes without being dispossessed because of Bayern's zealous pressing and sheer men power in the midfield.

Some folks said we Culés should be gracious and grateful that we are in the final, yeah I am all of that. But many of us have higher standard for our beloved team and what we saw today, especially in the 2nd half, was not Barça quality, far from it. I hope this serves as a wakeup call and Luis Enrique and his team analyze the hell out of our performance and use it as a lesson. We are Barça, we are not invincible, but we play much better football than we did today.
Are you really saying that Barca tried to overcome Bayern in the second half and it somehow failed? Do you really believe a single person from the Bayern team had a hope that the game can be turned around after the second goal. Bayern was planning to keep the clean sheet and it took only 30 minutes for Barca to score 2. It was a meaningless game for both sides after that. Bayern was playing for their fans and Barca players decided not to disrespect Bayern in their stadium and not trash them. Look at the aggregate score and see the big picture.

Damn you're such a worrywart Luft :VdB:

Come on man. Barca went into that game knowing both that Bayern were going to play with nothing to lose and to save their pride, and that they only needed 1 away goal to kill the tie. They got 2 goals in the first half and that sealed the deal. There's no need to over-analyze the second half. Barca really don't need to analyze anything of that second half. You can best believe if they had needed to win that game they would have approached that game with a very different mentality.

Guys it would have been amazing to score 3 or 4 goals or at least to go home with a win but still...The game was over. OVER. Do you guys not realize the intensity that is required, physically and mentally to play a team like Bayern. Constant pressing, tracking back, covering the spaces etc. Its a hellacious chess match. Now why you want to keep doing that when Bayern needed 6 goals to advance? Why not be smart and take the foot of the gas because we need the fuel more then we need to humiliate Bayern nor care if they play a meaningless half better than us.

How can you be angry at the way Barca played when it was clear we weren't playing anymore. And Bayern were fighting for their honor so they were still in the match. If you think that second half is at all a representation of this Barca, and you're somehow discontent about it, then you have a very short memory because the last 3 halfs in we were vicious and effective and not only went toe to toe with an extraordinary team, but actually we superior to them.

When a poor half overwhelms the fact we are heading for the motherfucking treble. Lawdy.

I was somewhat disappointed with that 2nd half myself, but you make a lot of sense.

I think it's understandable to be disappointed. Complacency can creep up on a team. There are better ways to kill off a game than whatever Barca did in the second half.

I wish I could believe the chaos they brought to midfield and particularly our defense (especially when hitting us with lobs and crosses) was because we purposely let them.

Hehehe Luft pessimist again mate, I'm pretty sure if we had to win this game to go through we'd have won it, no questions about that.

I believe that, absolutely, but the manner in which we handled it in the 2nd half was not pretty at all. As nnao said above, "There are better ways to kill off a game than whatever Barca did in the second half."

Sorry that the team and Lucho did not spend sleepless night on how to kill a meaningless game so it looks entertaining. Out of curiosity what Barca should have done to kill the meaningless game and not further humiliate Bayern in front of home fans. I don't remember seeing something like that before. Any ideas?
