I totally agree there were better keepers than him, particularly the Mexican keeper, still can't deny he had a good tournament.I wouldn't say he was one of the best at the world cup. All across the board goalkeepers were putting in some incredible performances. He was easily outshined by the keepers of Mexico, Nigeria, USA, Germany, etc.
As far as his "Later years" go, the only really good season he's had that I can see is this one in particular. He was one of the worst keepers I'd ever seen last season and that's why I was initially upset to see that we'd signed him.
A short tournament like the WC is a poor sample to judge a player. Bravo's previous season in La Liga for Sociedad is a better sample to judge him with, both because it was recent and because it was lengthy, and there again showed the issues that have made him the above average at best, but certainly not great keeper he is.
I'll tell ya what's also a good sample, his current season at Barca. As a shot stopper he has been as good as MaTS, and under the ball from crosses he has looked better than his German competitor. MaTS is a better distributor but not by a long way. The real advantage of the German is his ability to sweep.
Personally I would drop MaTS for the CL as Its unfair to play him when he gets no league games. Next season will likely be MaTS in la liga but the way Bravo is under valued on here is terrible. If only he was young, German and Blonde!
