Looks like July 1st is going to be our big day.

Griezmann and Lenglet will both be announced then.

Although good with his feet, there's nothing special defensively.
And at left CB we have Umtiti and Vermaelen (who though prone to injuries, is an excellent backup), as well as Digne who can deputize and Cuenca at reserves who is more than able to play in easy matches and could be promoted within a few years.

As right center backs, we have Piqué, Mina (who should be loaned out) and Marlon (most likely sold this summer).

Mind you, if Lenglet could play as a RCB, then that would be a different story, and de Ligt would be a better choice, cause in addition to being right footed and being great with his feet, he's naturally talented at defending.

I'd rather if Barcelona buys a player, it's because he's extraordinary. Otherwise promote from within (unless there's really no player, which in this case there is).

Frenkie De Jong plays mostly as a CB and we are rumored to be after him. Lenglet could be a good signing. It could be much worse.

Not a bad signing. Although I won't be surprised if he's sold in a couple of seasons again for Upamecano or De Ligt. Not because he would do bad, but because they might reach his level by then and have by far a bigger upside.

This means Mina is done for sure.

Mina being as shit as he is means he's done for sure. I don't think we'll ever see him play for us again whether we sign another CB or not.

99% of Busi's games are as DM. De Jong has played twice as many games as CB than midfielder for Ajax.

Fair, but as LCB though, don't know how he'd fare at RCB, and still not a natural CB (just like Busquets can still play there adequately).
Also, he's been looked at for next season (2019).

De Jong is a right footer, unlike CBs who play LCB as left footers, so I dont think that should be an issue. Signing someone like him does give us more versatility though, considering he's both a midfielder who plays alot as CB. Certainly as a 4th choice CB, he might be ideal as it is not a good idea to have non-versatile reserve players who wont get enough playing time.

I've been worried about the same, Umtiti, Lenglet and Vermaelen being left-footed.

Cuenca is still raw to judge, potential is there but needs time. He's got decent height but needs to bulk up a bit. Can't really count on it.

You're right, but I still think he should play easy games, just to test him and see if he's got it in him. But Digne certainly can play there.

It's true that the only reserve player I'd consider buying would be a versatile one, like Keita back in the days, but we should generally stop spending money on reserve players and start promoting them from within (ones who have potential and are good enough). In a 23-man squad, we should have 2 to play in each position, and one "number 12" (a player capable of playing in many positions). We already have Roberto though.
