Yea, some things work in some sports due to the culture being so and is usually accepted by all as normal. In football, I don't agree with trash-talking before a penalty. Doesn't seem like a natural thing to me in a sport where you can get even a red card if you insult a ref, or just curse in his direction. All of a sudden it's ok to insult players before taking key penalties?

How is what Martinez said an insult? Would've been different if he said concha de tu madre or something like that, even if they say it all the time on the pitch.

More like a cunt if you ask me. These buffoons rarely make it. Mina is one, and apparently so is that keeper. Just mind your business and save the shot without insulting other players.

Probably why I dislike most South American national teams. Too many macho wannabe assholes.

This guy definitely made it. Got the most clean sheets in a Premier League season in our entire history. Martinez > Ter Stegen every day and twice on Sundays.

Yes.

It have been done for ages.

Sometimes players say stuff like this, sometimes they do other things to psych opponents out.

Shit like this happened when I played Age 10 football, although of course it wasnt verbal abuse. More like "I know you are going to miss and so do you"

It's not arrogance and cockiness that get you far. It is the hard work that you sometimes put in to sustain it. Many are arrogant and cocky in a dumb shit way without backing it up, see that idiot Dembele. Either way, trash-talking opponents, like diving, time-wasting, this shit is not worthy of being praised on the football pitch.

It is far from insulting. Trash talk maybe but it is also mind game.

Lots of people asking about Argentina and Cristian Romero and if he will play the Copa America final. Nothing is known. Lots of rumors, nothing factual. Some outlets reporting that he is completely out of the final while others claim he has a chance of playing.

Cristian Romero has asked Argentina coach Lionel Scaloni to play in the Copa America final but him being inactive for two weeks could play against him. This via TyC Sports.
