Copa: Ibiza - Barca 1-2

I think he still has this idea we can have 90% possession, commit 7 players in attack and pass the ball into the net with combinations.

This squad is mediocre for the top level and Setien will be out of a job come the summer if he doesn't become more pragmatic.

This squad is a dogs dinner of Dad's Army pensioners and kids who aren't ready. Real Madrid have already got their replacements ready for their older players.

Take Messi out and it's no more than an average La Liga team who can be easily turned over every away game.

Why are they playing 3 at the back with only 1 being an actual CB??

Because Quique reckons they can pull it off naturally.

You'll advance probably. If not, blame it on the kids. It'll be good for them in the long run actually. Character building for average players.

We've had workhorses too under Valverde, and teams still ran us over physically. It's depeer than that. It's a question of training. But it is true that some of the players out there today are kids in terms of physique.

Everything was bad. Fitness, energy, formation.

I agree Valverde's training was lacking in terms of physical preparation. As for the workhorses I would argue we didn't have a good one for the level of a top team. rakitic already declined when he took over and paulinho while he made a useful impact was not exactly world class. vidal was world class once upon a time but when barca bought him he was already past it.

barca needs a workhorse like rakitic/vidal when they were at their peak or a player in the mould of essien.

It's good in a way that we're seeing the problems in full effect now that we've trained with intensity, like how the opponents we're supposed to beat in CL train. And we're depleted.

Yes, and I've always said that. There is a common misconception that under Pep we were a team of mellow technical players who couldn't compete physically. We were a top team in terms of fitness too. Because we trained hard, and this is why we were a pressing machine.

I also agree we need a physical midfielder of the level of Barcelona.

But this game has nothing to do with workhorses though. The ball is pretty much stuck with the defenders with the occasional ball breaking through their lines by FDJ which is where the attacks pretty much stopped. The other scenario was the ball ending up on the left side with Fati who pretty much got dispossessed every time.

1) 3-4-3 is a dead formation - it's suicidal in the modern game where opposition has wingers + fullbacks attacking and overlapping
2) Vidal is a must for high intensity aggressive teams like this, Puig is nowhere near capable of handling it
3) Our seniors players need a damn reality check. They are atrocious, dawg.

Ok... I have two things to say...

1. That was not a foul so it should be 2:0
2. So bad for that frame hit by Ibiza

Oh... Yesss... And 3rd

3. Fuck that tiki KAKA shit when you are fucked by Ibiza

Was Messi's greatest achievement that Liverpool first leg? The gap between the teams is totemic and he led Barca to a 3-0 lead

It becomes a physical game because of our poor movement. If you move well, fast, and you are very fit as a team you can find ways to pass within the pressing of the other team, thus avoiding many physical contacts. Speed (in passing & movement) is basically the way to fight off physical teams.

If you don't move well, and are slow and depleted, then the game becomes physical, at which point the lack of workhorses (stupid term, but you get the point) becomes apparent and an obvious problem.

the problem is unless Messi plays we cannot win - even against 3rd level nothing teams it has been like this for years!!!
this team cannot win ANY game against ANY team unless Messi plays - that is shameful ... guys like Greizmann Fati etc should be dominating this game - what a disaster!!!!

BRING IN A STRIKER WHO HAS SCORED 20 GOALS without Messi or this team is DONE!!!
