If you're watching you'll notice City is dominating, but you can still Ronaldo who's 36 pressing and trying to get involved ( I respect him for that, still a top professional).

You must have very low standard for pressing . Ronaldo has the lowest number of press in Premier league.

United not blaming Ronaldo is foolish. He kills any press United could make. Zero work ethic. One of the reasons why they could never get the ball and lack of ability to pass forward from the back.

Tru. Look at their league results vs City and Liverpool in the last two seasons: 8 matches, 3 wins, 3 draws, and only 8 goals conceded.

Some people love to praise him as being different from Messi in this regard, but really, he has the same weaknesses at this stage of his career.

He needs the attack to be built around him, and when it is, he will score versus the low and mid-tier teams. But come up short vs. the big teams because he is old and declined (Pool, City, even Leicester).

United managed to get some decent results against the top 4 in Ole's previous years. This season is the worst they've looked vs. the top teams. But a lot of people won't highlight this and troll about Messi's weakness despite him being an actual Barcelona legend. Not saying Messi shouldn't be criticized for being ball-dominant/needing support at this stage of his career, but thar CR7 should be similarly criticized.

My 2 cents.

It's same issue as we had with Messi. It's not just Ronaldo. Same problems you can see with PSG. It's hard for coach to play these guys.

I think the problem is a bit worse with Messi tbf because he runs even less and also needs a striker alongside him now.

Meh, Ronaldo has about the least amount of presses in the league, and also needs a striker alongside him to be at his best.
They play differently, but their weakness is basically the same.

But he's capable of more moments of genius on his own compared to CR7. Both are moments players at this stage of their career.

I was reading how CR7 has 90,000 minutes of top-level football and Messi 80,000 minutes of top-level football under his legs.

Even a physical freak like LBJ only has 50,000 minutes. And if you ask any top level athlete, the legs go first...so it's a miracle these 2 have lasted for like 15+ years.

Messi lasted this long because he didn't run more. Most likely. It was smart in terms of long career. Good for Barca too.

As long as you can tune up in big games of course.
