He was okay last season, ups and downs, he has fallen of a cliff this summer.

Guess he can try to turn back the clock in the world cup, but after that he is done, he should probably consider retiring after this season.

Agree apart from the retiring bit. He should come to MLS instead for some goals, money, and to boost his brand/fame in the US.

Definition of a bum. World class player would sneak that ball/pass to leao. This bum cant pass even if his life depends on it. But if he put that volley behind unai he would be cheered as the 'GOAT'. Small margins, pr does wonders.

He looked finished last year but rallied round to get himself a decent tally of goals. His general play was poor outside of the goals though.

This year he looks and plays every minute a 37 year old. Completely fell off a cliff now. He would still score bucket loads in the States though.

Also, the 2016 Euro, while obviously a great thing for Portugal, had a price.

Santos has been holding them back, but because he won the euros he gets to stay as long as he wants, apparently.

He is just finished.
The difference with Messi is that when Messi declined physically, he reivented himself and became more as a playmaker; he did it so well, like the best playmaker in the world. His talent, technical flexibility and game intelligence allow him to do that.
But for CR, it's impossible. He is only a finisher; and can't excell at other roles. He isn't good at playing in tight spaces or at playmaking. His finishing and off-the-ball movement declined immensely too. Actually, I see him as a problem for his team, especially with his egocentric mentality and his only focus on his own stats above the collective play and the team's interest.
This strong squad of Portugal is under-achieving and they clearly deserve better as a team; when you see the names.

Agree with that, the players Santos started today don't fit with each other.

Portugal should be doing a lot better with the players that they have.

Santos is what forum de amigos thought Valverde was.

Don't know why benches Leao, plays William Carvalho over Vitinha, and has Bernardo stuck out on the right in a defensive system where he is anonymous against better teams.

Think they would look much better with this front six

Leao - Siunaldo - Neto/Jota/Renato

Bernardo - Neves - Vitinha/Renato
