The thing is he is a better player than Ribery...He's a sore loser, everyone knows that. Blatter's recent episode is also playing a part on this, but I think he can't stand losing the award to ribery. Guess he assumed he'd take it with Messi's bad year, but seeing how unlikely it is, he just can't take it anymore. Losing to Iniesta was probably the most he could take

Messi is a lot better than cr too. But from his statements after blatter's joke, anyone could see he insinuated Messi won 4 bdors in a row because of blatter and fifa. The guy is a sore loser, and his ego wouldn't stand seeing a player like ribery winning, or even seeing Messi get his 5th.
Messi is better than Ronaldo when hes in good disposiotion, which was not the case for some time and certainly is not the case now.

You should check Messi's stats for the year 2013. Messi is a better player, injured or not. I agree with rm legend Jorge Valdano: “Messi is the best player of the world and the second place is for injured Messi”
And I bet he'd go, if he was sure he'd win it.

I am very well aware that this post is controversial, but I would say my opinon on Ronaldo in an objective manner.
People who sympathize Real Madrid world are campaigning to raise Ronaldo to the skies for the Portuguese to win Ballon Dor. The campaign aims to get the arrogant Ronaldo seem meek and angelic as well to get Messi to be a nasty little bastard in the hidden.
When did so called Ronaldo prove this humble cute, sweet wonderful man? Time passes quickly and the ignorant masses forgets quickly to hack the media's next serial to let his opinion, position and stance are indoctrinated to make logic absent like a herd of zombies repeating what the media trained parrots to speak.
When did Ronaldo campaigns to become a GOOD BOY ? It started last year when Messi won his 3rd Ballon Dor and was about to win his 4th. Spanish media in Madrid went out with that Ronaldo was arrogant and needed to work on their image against a meek line to win the Ballon Dor. From there you could see Ronaldo appear in several charitable context. When Messi had helped a Moroccan boy because he had the same disease as he made Ronaldo the same with another kid and got his act directly impact the Spanish media's backing. He has exhibited in various charity campaigns to improve their chances of winning the Ballon dor.
This guy's arrogance has no limits. He takes every chance to be noticed and "help" to. I remember in the beginning of his goodness trains how he started helping other players on the field, things were so different from Ronaldo Unfortunately, he puts his name on the tragedy in the Philippines. All this for Ballon Dor. This man's arrogance shines through so strongly that I just feel ashamed . When he made the military gesture and felt so angry and good looking, I just wanted to die.
Ronaldo loves two things, Ronaldo, Ronaldo and attention, forgot the third. He does everything a stunt to appear. He puts his face on everything that comes within his reach if it increases his chances for Ballon dor.
There has been a Ronaldo type everywhere, in class, playground, work and party. Ronaldo should take and turn its attention to Barcelona to find his true role model.
A shy little boy who does not want something with a spotlight and do take anything from anyone who wants it most. A guy at 169 cm crushes "ideal" man and that he will not tolerate. A guy who has never been known for a playboy has married his childhood sweetheart. A guy who has been doing charity since we beat madrid 6-2 and before that, to help the needy. A humble person who makes it to the needy and not to reach the limelight.

Like I said, Messi is better, when hes in good disposiotion, which wasnt the case recently. Injured Messi cant even play, so its hard to say hes better player than CR.

If anything, injuries put Messi in the same level of cr and ribery for this bdor. None of them are clear undisputed winners. It could go either way. But if the best player should win, it's Messi. If the one who most trophies should win, then it's ribery.

Messi's a better player, but Ronaldo's played better. Messi has struggled with injuries and form this year and that has immense influence on whether or not he deserves the Ballon D'or. The award is given based off of the player with the best year-round performance, not the player with the most ability.

I've seen people claiming exatcly that the award should go to the player with most ability. There's no clear criteria, everyone has one. I also don't think cr played better. I'd give it to ribery or lahm, based on that.

Well performance and ability go hand in hand. Performance is just ability put into practice, which is clearly a much better criteria for an award that judges over an entire year rather than having the "ability" to give good performances but not being able to show it. Messi could easily have been head and shoulders above everyone this year, but circumstances have kept him from being able to show his ability and perform well. Ronaldo on the other hand, has shown his ability to his fullest extent possible and performed consistently on almost every stage. His only real output is attacking/goalscoring, but he's been much better than the likes of Ribery/Lahm simply because he does that to such a high extent and has been more vital to his team. With Messi having a downed year and Ribery not being on the same level individually, Ronaldo has capitalized on his chance in 2013 and proven that he has put out the best individual performance over the course of the year.

Vital to his team in what, exactly? He was cl top scorer, but failed to win a title. Not even the cdr. I don't think he's done enough to win the bdor.
