Cristiano Ronaldo - v1

He's just like Mou. Whenever they lose or play shit they blame the ref instead of taking responsibility themselves.

they are both very bad losers. but shifting blame like this can actually be a good thing in sports because you maintain your own self esteem and can move on stlil thinking you are the shit and win the next game.

xavi is like this too and his confidence is always high even though its a bit delusional at times and we overlook some of our own weaknesses.

Rash generalization to lump Xavi & CR in the same basket when only one of them has demonstrated good sportsmanship and has never been legitimately accused of being a poor sport

obviously xavi is a better sportsman than cristiano. i'm talking specifically about attitude after a loss and shifting blame isn't so bad even though it has its problems.

I agree. It made me very angry when Xavi couldn't admit the team wasn't completely outplayed by Bayern. He also ALWAYS blames the pitch being poor when the team are poor.

“We enjoyed the bulk of the possession against Bayern, they couldn't control the game. To look only at the result doesn't really tell the whole story."

His exact words from an interview shortly after the 7-0 embarrassment.

Well I definitely feel that Xavi bought too much into the whole ''possession'' aspect and lost track of the idea of tiki-taka a bit. When you compare his style of play from the first few years with Pep to now, he's just so much more conservative.

Of course a lot of that is due to how teams play against Barcelona now, but I still think he has become significantly more defensive. Before I felt him and Iniesta were more of a pair whereas now it's Messi-Iniesta and Xavi-Busquets?

Could just be my imagination and I suppose with his age, a more controlled style of play is inevitable.

Oh, well that's very embarrassing if true.

Not at all and nowhere near the realm of unsportsmanlike, delusional etc. Xavi is a gentleman and to characterize him otherwise is to ignore how our Captain has always conducted himself. He's cut from the same cloth as club legends like Puyol & Pep

I didn't mean embarrassing in that way, not at all.

Obviously to compare him to Ronaldo is ridiculous and would never even occur to me. As you said, Xavi is very sportsmanlike and Ronaldo, well Ronaldo is a whiny, spoilt prick.

I just meant that comment, in the context it was spoken, was embarrassing.

Exactly Michael. I donno what was even the point of bringing Xavi into this whole comparison crappola. Xavi is no saint but putting him in the same line with Ronaldo for some vain "we are no better" debate is an insult to Xavi.
